You can't cut a players wage beacause he got injured. That's heaps slack. But you can definetley get rid of the player when his contract is up if he doesn't try hard enough to get fit. teriyaki was saying that next time around when his contract is up for renewal then he should be offered less contractually they can't cut his wage also contractually, mrdja is signed with us next season can't see him mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with the mariners because he won't get a better offer from other clubs

Lawrie will just have to organise training for Newcastle beach. Similar surface! the groundkeeper's excuse was that he didn't have enough warm nights to grow the grass wtf? it is summer I don't know anything about grass, but to me the comment seemed to suggest that you need a more constant temperature than we have been getting. The thing is we haven't had a lot of cloud cover recently which is what keeps the nights warmer by trapping heat. If the grass suffers from being exposed to temps under a certain amount it may actually be hurting the grass having clear nights. alternatively the groundskeeper has no idea, it is newcastle and it happened last year to us, so this is certainly possible too. as to Mjrda going somewhere else, maybe we wants to go back to the glory. We could also let him go to the jets and see him and duarnte take each other out in training.

I think we still need Nick next year. I can't see anyone else in the squad who has the hard lead foot free kicks. When we have played with him, the ball service from SP and Kwassie have been better and we looked more like scoring in open play and not from set pieces or penalty spot.
I think he may have been rushed back to the team and not given longer to recover, especially after Mori left us for Roar.
How ever I very much looking for ward to Matty play and hope he can deliver the goods for us.

Bugger, no Mrdja... Though Simon is good. Can he take free kicks, or corners?

i doubt he'd take them for ccm, but with lightning i can recall him scoring a few free kicks. Similar to mrdja, just drills them

Waste of money. We'd have a better chance of scoring goals by playing spencer upfront.

2 years we have carried him for ?3 games? concerns me if he is so injury prone as we lost Damian with the idea that miricale nick was back? Don't know that we can afford the luxury of carrying players not working - excessive sick leave. We also carry Crawley however he is making a contribution through coaching but he to is over a year without playing.

He is getting what he deserves for the cowardly act on Durante, don't give him another yellow shirt. We have said this on numerous occasions over the last 18 months, send him on his way, bring on Matty.

Cold hard facts:
A-League seasons - 2 Appearances - 6 Full games - 0 Games started - 3 Minutes played - 258 Goals - 2 (www.ccmariners.com.au has forgotten one!) Attempts on goal - 10 Attempts on target - 6 Goal assists - 0 Fouls committed - 9 Offsides - 5 Yellow cards - 1
I feel sorry for Nik and I accept that the injury(s) and recovery timeframe were outside his control but value for money - WOEFUL (so far...if we're contractually commited to having him in 2007/08, I live in hope).
Worse still is the feeling that had we had Nik firing and living up to his potential, the Mariners would have won the Version 1 Championship.

What other strikers are available. Is Mark Bridge out of contract this year? IMHO Nik shouldn't return he has offered nothing but a hat-trick in a pre-season game and a lucky deflected goal against NZKFC. he is on some decent cash so it will certainly free up some dollars to invest in some strikers But you've indicated that Mrdja is signed for next season as well in another thread Mick. That being the case, wouldn't the Mariners have to pay him out? Last season his injury started as a brusied knee that ended up in all sorts of medical diagnosis and conjecture, finally writing off his season and now he's had a "bruised heel" in first reports, that's finished his second season. Sounds like he has more of a broken foot than a bruised heel. Who is responsible for this type of simple understating of the problem, which can mislead one to believe Nik is nearly ready to return, then having that hope dashed by a further report saying he's stuffed? Whoever it is, could you please pass on my dislike of being taken for a ride about Nik Mrdja playing for the Mariners - you are close to some in the club.

Maybe NM makes out he is nearly ready, trains hard and breaks down again. Alternatively he is a bottler happy to bludge a wage packet

we need nikky next season but if he keeps on getting injuried he should be paid game by game. when he is 100%, which is rare, he is very good in front of goals and the mariners need someone like nikky who can score goals when they are 100% fit, like what nikky showed us in the 1st preseason cup

Cant change a contract mid term. If he is signed for S3 we have to honour what the terms are.

the club also monitors his injuries. people quickly forget they are also partly responsible for his long lay off. somethings that have been said in this thread a pretty bad, he is with us next season, and if he stays fit then i am sure he will show where is heart is. as if its in his best interests to be injured and not playing.
