We need to use our wings more, the long ball game is frustrating me! Any sort of passes will do as long as they find our own players! yeah but a lot of the time they are not finding our own players Some of our passing this year has been rushed and pretty poor, seems funny to say that yet sit on top of the league. If we can sort our passing out I think it will really improve our game.

Brownie will be back on the bench, but Tommy is gone for at least a few weeks. Owens is OK, but Viddy struggled a bit towards the end and may be in doubt. Obviously Boogs can/will fill the gap there. More broadly, there are 8 weeks to go before the finals, and while a semis-berth is certain, it's all about peaking at the right time. Big next fortnight, but we need to get the right boys fit for the start of the semis and need to focus on the full season. Asia of course would be nice though.....

I just really really really wanna win on Sunday ;D

Even though I work in Western Sydney and my colleagues don't follow the A-League, they like to give it to me when we loose to Sydney. That I can handle. Loosing to the scummers...........that I can't / wont tolerate!!

So we play brilliant (home against Adelaide) and we win. We play mostly shithouse, can't string two passes together (away against Perth) and we get the win.
Anyone got that old adage handy about "champion teams still manage to win when they play shit"??
;D ;D ;D
Away trip to Bangkok for ACL anyone?? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah.

Gumps is fully fit. He told my brother so last night. On the subject of how great the mariners are, my bro went to mingara for a swim, and they were all playing water polo. Aloisi was getting out of the pool and my bro said to him "wanna do a race". Sure enough John smiled and was up for it. I love how the mariners are so approachable. For the record Aloisi won the 50m breaststroke by 1m.

Bridge looked like he was badly injured in the final moments of the Olyroos game - he even stayed down whilst they were celebrating. If monkey boy is also out they will have a weaker mid and with our loss of Jedi and Tommy it just helps us that bit more.
They may also struggle at the back as DePuzzio (whatever who cares he's a muppet) is also suspended....FIRE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- - - - - - - - Danny - - - - Wilko Boogs Viddie Porter - - - Hutch - - - - Heff - - - Owens - - - - - Kwas - - - - - Sasho - - Aloisi Central midfield looks to be depleted for both teams, but we have far greater depth there. I think if we played three in that area we could boss the play and go straight through them. Sasho and Aloisi dropping off with Owens and Kwas running in behind could be deadly, and when they go narrow we have wingbacks who can get forward to cross. Defensively, you'd have Boogs looking after Jardel (this is the big man's 'big game' remember : with Viddie helping out with Griffo behind Heff. Wilko would take care of anything else that got through. Newcastle usually love to play little one twos and short passes in front of the area (think Griffo scoring from diagonal runs twice this season) so having a back three would give us the extra man in that space to scramble and shut anything down. If they start trying to run to the byline to cross for Jardel, we might need to change to a back four. So basically I could see us dominating possession, getting Hutch on the ball a lot, and coming at them in waves. Then the midfield is crowded by our 5 and they are forced to go over it to the heading power of Boogs. We get the ball back. Looking forward to the battle of raw energy - Heff vs Griffindore.

Weather forecast isn't the best which could affect the crowd quite a bit!
Interesting but very sad stat for us is that we have only ever scored 2 goals at EAS in 4 visits, and never more than 1 in a game........bogey ground or what!
Fingers crossed that will change this week hey!
------------------------Danny Porter-------Wilko-----Boogs/Vidmar-----Heff Gumps-------Owens------Hutcho----------Kwas -----------------Sasho------Aloisi
Bench - Clark, Simon, Vidmar/Boogs and Trott
Not much more of a choice in midfield if we stick to 4-4-2, which I'm sure Lawrie will away from home.
I think that's a team that can still win, we have not beaten the Jets (in the HAL) in the last 5 games (since the semi final at EAS), we must be due! In saying that Jets have lost 2 in a row at home and will want to amend that statistic!
So who have they got out? Musialik, De Puzzo and maybe Bridge......looks like Spenny will be starting, along with Jardel if Bridge is injured?
Keep Griffiths quiet (massive job for Heff), and we'll walk away with at least a draw!

Reading their forum very briefly they seem to think we claim to have taken 5k fans to EAS before, and as an average, can't say I remember seeing that claim on here! Best crowd we have taken there was around 3k for the semi final in V1.

Id swap Clark for Porter for this one DJ. Porter has be outstanding, but this is a BIG game, and 1 moment of uncertainty could cost us the points. Clark is older and more experienced, which for this game is what we need in our backs. If Gumps is not 100% put Porter at right mid, but I believe we need Clark out there for this one.
