Some good ideas there about an Australian a side. All A-League players, maybe coached by Graham Arnold, so Guus hears about their performance. As for expansion, well, I feel they have to get the A-League as it stands in good shape both on and off the field before expanding the comp. There are bound to be a number of issues the current clubs would want to discuss at season's end with the FFA (the 20 man roster and some of the loopholes about short term contracts springs to mind), and then onto season 2. I can't imagine the likes of O'Neill and co. not listening to the clubs and trying to address what a consensus of clubs want fixed. Once the comp is rocking, then it may be time to look at expansion.

Tassie was formulating a bid for one of the 8 spaces in the conception phase of the league, but funding fell out. Thats a bit sad too, because we have some quality players down here, I can think of three(lol) who would make the cut. Simon Miotto(gk) just got released from West Brom in the Premier League, and I recon he would come back as he never gets first team football. Aron Brazendale was approached by Adelaide United earlier in the season and he trained with him. They talked about a contract, but he was unable to go due to education commitments i think. He's 18 too. Also, there are a few Players from up north tassie here who are very good. Sam Luck plays for the state under 19's and was in the Northern Premier League of the Year, and he could definitely go all the way.
On top of that, Launceston has a brilliant stadium, Aurora Stadium(previously York Park), and it has supposedly the best playing surface for AFL in australia. I think the capacity is 20k now with the new tier that has just been built. When Melbourne Knights and Perth Glory played here a few years ago, about 5-10 grand came to watch, and that was a completely once off game.
So yeah, you can tell I want a team here in tassie! Soccer Tasmania(eech ugly name) has a new pathway for athlete developmetn now, so maybe we will see some more tassie boys pushing through.
Expansion south is all the rage i think:)

I think I said it in a previous thread I'm a big believer in North Queensland being the next inclusion. The tablelands is full of football fans, the premier league comp in Cairns is strong, and there are some great products of the far north, Farina for one .. and someone else who escapes me, a Socceroo though I think. Anyway, I think Nth Qld (Cairns based) deserves a spot

Cairns had a good roll up to the game the Roar played there pre-season, I'd like to see them get a spot in an expanded A-League. It'd be interesting to see how the Roar would handle that.
