C'mon guys, this is the town that was so indolent their steelworks was taken away, has 1 NRL club in RL heartland and cant make money and allow someone like Con to run a football club.
As any large company knows. If you want your Newcastle operation to work, send someone in from outside (or close it and have a "virtual" operation run out of Sydney).
If you were a major potential sponsor, how much money would you give Con?? Would you want Griffiths wearing a shirt with your name on it?? No, me neither.

Looks like con has finally had enough. From fox sports
Time to produce ... Mario Jardel. Jardel faces day of reckoning
November 18, 2007 MARIO Jardel will be given just one more game to prove he is worth his $3000-a-week price tag.
Newcastle Jets owner Con Constantine conceded for the first time his marquee striker's future at the club will go on the line against Central Coast next Sunday.
After a week of turmoil within the Jets over Jardel, Constantine finally admitted the time had arrived for a decision to be made on the future of the controversial former Brazilian international.
Constantine also revealed:
- The club is close to signing one or possibly two Italian stars - a striker, and an attacking midfielder for the rest of the season.
- Action against Mark Bridge was unlikely despite his disparaging comments last week about the way his contract negotiations were handled by the club.
- He wants to sign contracted star Joel Griffiths and his twin brother Adam to long-term deals.
On Jardel, Constantine said:
"We're going to give him one more shot at it at home next Sunday.
"Then I might have to make a hard decision.
"It's tough because I have a lot of respect for the man - he is a thorough gentleman and despite what he has achieved through his career, he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder."
Constantine, responsible for bringing Jardel to the club, denied he had been pushed into a decision to dump him after the striker was last week labelled a liability by unnamed teammates.
"I would never allow players, particularly anonymous ones, to dictate who should and who shouldn't be in the team," he said.
"They should be asking themselves whether they have provided the sort of good service that a player like Mario deserves.
"All I've wanted to do is the right thing by Mario because of the respect I have for him but we have to be realistic and I'm sure he understands that as well.
"Hopefully, he can deliver next weekend and take the decision out of my hands.
"But in my position, I can't afford to have him there if he doesn't deliver."
On the possible Italian recruits, Constantine said:
"Remo (Nogarotto -- Jets director of football) is over there now talking to them.
"One is older, the other a bit younger with one of them recommended to us by Paul Okon (former Jets captain).
"I'd like to sign both of them if I can but it gets down to how much they want to be paid against how much we can afford.
"We have a couple of weeks to get them across the line so hopefully, that will happen."

It will be interesting to see what Remo's discription of a star will be. - Action against Mark Bridge was unlikely despite his disparaging comments last week about the way his contract negotiations were handled by the club. After Con had told bullshit about bridge & Musalik on several occasions to the press in an attempt to taint their reputation, any action would make him look like a bloody foolish tyrant. He should feel fortunate action wasn't taken agains't him.

it has said that the mariners will hold talks with bridge today and will offer him a contract Today's telegraph says that we can't offer Bridge anything at the moment as most money is still tied up with Mrdja. Lawrie said the club wasn't going to give up on Mrdja and would wait till April / May after his 4 month stint with lightning before making a decision.

Rumour is that The Phoenix have signed on Sony as a front of shirt sponsor, to be announced next Tuesday. Pretty big news if it's true. Yeah I probably could have started a new thread but putting it here reminds everyone how naked the front of the scums shirts are. ;D This is now official

Though I want to see timmys answer, you should know by now that what Con says & what is fact, has little in common. He's like a politician that can no longer tell the difference & doesn't care regardless.

www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,22819165-5000940,00.html Mario Jardel may have earned another chance at starting for the Jets with his best performance in the A-League thus far.
But the marquee player may be in trouble for what appeared to be an attempted to eye gouge of John Hutchinson.

Did the Scum really turn down Nathan Burns and Bruce Djite? HAVING previously missed out on boom youngsters Nathan Burns and Bruce Djite, Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond has urged the club not to make the same mistake with James Holland. Newcastle have tabled an offer to Holland but it is less than Holland's management are seeking. The Jets are one of four A-League clubs interested in signing the 18-year-old midfielder, who returned yesterday from a two-week trial in Belgium. The club was in a similar position at the start of last season when Burns and Djite were on the market but baulked.
The pair joined Adelaide and have since become the hottest property in the league.
"The last thing you want to do as a club, I would have thought, is lose a player who is potentially going to make the club money, ie Nathan Burns," van Egmond said.
"We missed out on Burns when he was offered to us; we missed out on Bruce Djite when he was offered to us.
"Hopefully we don't make the same mistake again."
