I am relatively new to this forum, so i am unsure if i am proposing something that has been entertained before......
I propose we do something a little bigger than a sheet supported by two sticks. What we really need is something larger to make a statement not only in the stadium, but on a national level....
how about a banner large enough to cover the crowd at bay 16. I am envisaging a black cloth passed back over the crowd as the mariners take the field. And on this cloth is a huge skull & cross bones with marinators in some gothic type set along the bottom. Possibly yellow and blue checks down each side.
How to do it? There are a couple of options;
* Possibly a sail maker (there are several on the coast) could manufacture it from a light weight cloth. Something that is not only light to carry and manouvre over the crowd but also folds well and can be carried in say a kit bag. (light nylon possibly)
* Would be relatively simple to make as its just a big rectangle. Skull & cross bones would involve some effort.
* Costs of such a beast could be offset by either the mariners, maybe contributions from the marinators or perhaps a sponsorship arrangement with the manufacturer. (ie maybe advertising at the mariners games - with permission of the powers that be of course).
* Thirdly, if cost is a issue, a cheaper alternative would be to rock down to spotlight, buy a roll of black material (rolls are available about 1500mm wide i think) and get some seamstress to bang something together.
I reckon it would be a pisser.......
What do you people think???
