Something might seem stupid until you realise lots of end up agreeing with you! So never be afraid to speak up! As for me, I voted yes. Club logos, skull and bones, pictures of yellow ships, whatever! the more the merrier - it all adds to the sight of bay16.

I thought we were pirates? Mariners, Marinated in beer = pirates? Any nautical (pirates, sailors, yachting, (Mariners came from Ian Kiernan's yatching connections) or marination (all those lovely marinades gracing our ranks) themes. Actually Marinators was to some seen as a play on Terminator + Marinating! As for flags - yes some smaller more easily handled ones - and banners. This also means that some can be used around the ground, and away, by other Marinators that aren't 'Bay 16' Marinators! It is great if the club allow the logo to be used! Small Marinators 'flag' logo somewhere too for branding and ownership. Not Bay 16 on too many. On the flags and banners can go any of the themes, but I like catchy wordings! Sea of Yellow! Mariners 'til I die! - that sort of thing but we have more creative people than I! Oh, and get the yellow right ... not too washed out ... the main Marinators banner and www.marinators.net banners colour. My thoughts, for what it's worth.

i agree, our marinators banner has the skull and bones. this one should have just the logo. i think it probably would just look better.

I orginally thoughts as long as it has the Mariners colours on there thats the main thing. After reading a few posts and thinking about it I believe it's definitely better to get a couple with different logos. With the club giving us permission to use their logo I think this is a must, obviously because this is the team we support and the reason we are getting the flags. Then on the other flag our own Marinators banner, this will provide a mixture of everyones preference IMO, it has a bit of the pirate theme and also our name on there?

I agree with catchy wording - makes viewers eyes linger. I think wording should be on banners. Might not be easily read on flags. I like flags too, and pennants. And pirates are sexy Flags look good when consistent and create an overall effect over the bay. As for the yellow, if you always ask for Pantone Process Yellow it should kinda match or choose a registration. I have a Pantone swatch book if you'd like to choose one or maybe ask someone at the club for the registration of the Mariners yellow. Adz might be able to get the RGB 'recipe' off the logo, if its not Process.

did colour samples of images of the jersey, various logos (some have different shades to others...) and other mariners images in photoshop, i've got all sorts of things coming up. basically, from the mariners logo on the website (reasonably trusty i think!, a bit different to the one at the top of this page though), i get the following values from the adobe colour picker: Hue: 49 Saturation: 98 Brightness: 100 Red: 255 Green: 210 Blue: 100 Cyan: 1 Magenta: 16 Yellow: 99 Black: 0 L(?): 86 a(??): 5 b( ):85 [designer folks - WTF are these about?] hex: FFD204 a whole bunch of Pantone colours depending on what sort you're after: DC 5-2C 7404C 116PC 108U 116M plus other ANPA, DIC, Focoltone, HKS, Toyo and Trumatch shades that i can't be bothered with...

From my understanding, programs like Photoshop have colour settings that can differ from one to another. Apparently, these have been 'resolved' between Adobe programs in Creative Suite 2, which I haven't had the pleasure of playing around with, yet. I don't know how they intepret colour from the web into print values though. Where the hell is Adz? My computer came with a program called Art Director's Toolkit - it matches colours to the different registrations, converts metric lengths to picas etc. When I used it on the logo on the Mariners site results were similar to yours. I also got Pantone 116C. R:247 G: 209 B: 23 C:0% M:16% Y:100% K:0% Hex: #F7D117 The variations are on the web values, so maybe its reading directly from the monitor, but the print values are more similar. Either way, it might be 116C or we could just ask.

I think the Lab colours are for monitors, net, tv etc (?) Can someone confirm this? I think one value represents a point on a line between red and green and the other a point on a line between blue and yellow.

Are we even allowed to wave flags that big? I remember JF continually getting into trouble for trying to wave big flags at Spirit games. we don't have much trouble because they are either waved right up the back and not a problem, or they are down the front for pregame, halftime, goal scoring displays of colour, nad generally have people attending them that don't go crazy waving them in front of others, unless we are in brisbane. smaller flags should be less of a problem, i'd like to see them being non bay specific so they can be spread out. the club logo will be a good touch.

I do not overly like the skull and crossbones theme either, but am happy either way.
