As much as i would love to sit with the crew at the back of the goal on game day, i dont think my young kids are ready for the experience yet.
I would however like to make a simple suggestion on how you guys can boost the crowd numbers with practically no effort at all.
Pass the word around and lay down the challenge to the crew to bring one new person to the game this weekend who hasnt been to a game before. The "BRING A BUDDY" idea.
Lets face it, we all have friends in the outside world who have probably never been to a game before. Each crew member, just one person. Its not much at all.
Who knows, some people may enjoy themselves enough to come back again.
Imagine if the whole stadium did this!!

www.marinators.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=223&Itemid=8"SHARE THE LOVE This is mainly a message to existing fans. As much money is spent on marketing and image, the main reason people will come to Mariners games is on the advice of others. Season one is done and dusted but our job isn't over. If we all brought one new person to the next game, we'd be surpassing the averages of all the biggest clubs from last season. Take yourself back and remember your first game. The thrill. The excitement. Make the effort and introduce a friend or colleague to this experience at the next match."

upon looking at the cove tonight, i noticed one big difference between us and them. the fact that they kept 1, 1 1/2 seat(s) per person. we had in some cases 2 people to one seat. the fact that they were spread out vastly increased their chances of filling their bay. In my opinion i think we could of filled either the whole of bay 16, or half of bay 15 and 16 up the top. i know this keeps comming up, but its something we need to sort out soon. dont get me wrong, i had a ball of a time when we scored, it was just a mass of people jumping ontop of each other. but for the fact that we want to make an impact visualy at the game, not physically on each other.

Very true, after the second goal IIRC when more people had piled into bay 16 during HT, a father in front of me was trying to shield his daughter from everyone jumping all over her(fortunatly she was ok) It is more the hangers on that refuse to wear yellow that seem to be causing this problem, and because they are outside of the Marinators/Mariner supporters as such either don't know the rules regarding safety, or don't give a stuff.

I am hating saying this but i think all this is starting to point to reserved marinators season tickets in bay 16 for next season
if the fringe element want to join us, they can, just around the areas that are not reserved areas
this will help spread the area out and make it safer

I agree Mick - It was noticeable from bay 15 that when we went 2-1 up there were lots of new faces in bay 16 who moved across.
Also consider reserved in bay 15 as well.

I witnessed a pure example of what happened. After we got in the lead two girls showed up and were invited into seats next to mine. Being the tall guy I am always forced behind others to make more space. Ideally we'd be able to sell season tickets for reserved Marinator seats from the back of bay 16 downwards, and sell as many as what people would buy. After that, every seat in front of and around these seats would remain GA. Everyone in the reserved area would know the two people who stand either side of them and it would be impossible for part-timers to move in unnoticed. It would also be easy to identify Marinators who aren't commited enough to show up at various games!

Season passes to bay 16 starting from the back down = genius idea.
I'll have 5 (seriously).
Easy to police as well, if I know the guys/gals around me, not too hard to spot some interloper.

Ha, none of my friends would come, becuase 'they're too cool for football' and because 'the mariners are crap!' according to them. I reckon the people whom do not come in yellow or even mariners gear are bringing the whole of bay 16 down, becuase it ruins the intended effect of a 'sea of yellow' Maybe everyone should rock up in banana costumes, cause the two guys who do stand out heaps when i look bay 16 from bay 7. XD which is just awesome! this is the best pic i got from friday, unfortunatley i think it was from the point where the cove was saluting us going 'you f***ed up!'

I agree. I was in the first row up the back not affected by the scaffolding and all night there were non-yellows walking into the row. You pretty much have to stand with your legs 3 feet apart and not move so you don't get squished and reserve your space. Being the tall guy I am always forced behind others to make more space. That's annoying Tiger. So is being the short one, so your forced in front of others with your legs against the chairs in front, and someones you know what in your back!!

Every game I notice the 14 year old hangers on, rolling on through to look cool and then get bored and go try buy some beer. Marinators season tickets would be a good step to expelling all non-yellow wearing kiddies to the alcohol free bay... or at least away from me so I can swear without the guilt.
I'm all for the Bring a Buddy idea too.

i think it would be a good idea to possibly find a way ban these sort of kids from the bay, one, becuase many are not wearing yellow, and as metioned just do it in a feeble attempt to be cool, and two because as blackdder mentioned they arent exactly safe when the bay gets a bit 'excited' Also, i dont know if im the only one whos noticed this but behind the bay 16 side of the stadium along the walkway, there are always numerous amounts of slutty looking girls whom average around my age, god knows what they are achieving from standing along there, i mean they do nothing but get in the way of anyone trying to get through...

Do you want to stop just the non-yellow under 18's or all of the under 18's cause me and my mates are 16 and we wear all the yellow and sing everygame and it would be a shame to be forced out.

We definitely want you guys and any other friends you can bring along! It's just certain people, usually younger types, who sit in the marinators because it's the cool thing to do without really contributing (by either wearing yellow or singing). We have to remember that some people are having their first time in bay 16 and may not be wearing yellow, but if they are singing good on them! Don't tell them off - lean over and say with a wink "Great singing guys! I expect to see you in the same place next match but wearing yellow!"

What I found really good about the Cove, was that they had people at the front of the bay starting the chants. Maybe we could adopt this plan, that way all the people down the front would have no choice but to stand up and join in the chants.
Also, I was astounded to her a person in Bay 15 tell people in Bay 16 to "sit down".

Happens a fair bit i'm sad to say. The bigger the game, the more chance of someone sitting in bay 15 telling people to sit down. A clash between people who want to get a good view behind the goals and people who want to stand. Not much we can do until we have both bays full of people who want to stand up all game.
Standing at the back is ok because it doesnt piss anyone off. If you are a few rows down, you probably dont think it ok to stand up when everyone else wants to stay seated.
My only suggestion is that if you want a bit of room around you and want to stand, get in early and fill bay 15 from the back.
If bay 15 is singing too, people will be more inclined to go there and not cram bay 16.
Something needs to be done to ease the crowding in bay 16 before someone gets hurt.
