I was pre-occupied whilst watching TWG on Sunday at a mates, but out of the corner of my eyes and ears I thought I heard snippets of a follow up story to Archies supposed move to PSV.
It was something about Beauchamp also possibly looking for (or already been offered???) a gig out on loan to some other o/s club, I assume for the same reason as Archie, ie, to keep playing in order to maintain hopes of a World Cup call-up.
Was I hearing or imagining things?

na he can move now to Europe because it;s there transfer period. Archie is so gone. Even he knows he's moving to PSV and it looks like he's played his last game for Victory.

Razza by the sounds of it it'd be an offseason loan.
I'm sure someone will ask Meggsi on Sunday (or many people will and he'll get annoyed).

By the sounds of it....
What it sounds like doesn't matter. The Euro transfer window is open only til the end of January. If he stays after that, he is 'stuck' here.
I dont see him as someone who would take off before the season is out, but you never know.

I'd just like to re-iterate that I honestly could have heard totally wrong. I could barely hear the TV and there was stuff going on all around me. Tried to get everyone to stfu, but they would not.
They were talking about Archie and as a part of the same story were interviewing Beauchamp, and I thought I heard mention of an o/s league or an offer.
It could well be that SBS simply asked him if he would consider moving abroard to keep WC aspirations alive. Could well be that he then said "dunno" and told them to get nicked.
I was actually hoping someone else watched it and could fill me in?

I didn't watch it, but read in one of the Archie articles, cant remember where, that a couple of others, including beauchamp, were in the same boat, and had a quote from him saying that a move would be good, or he'd love to make the world cup, or something positive. Nothing to read too much into yet.

Archie could be gone as early as Sunday I read today?
I also read that Yorke has been linked with Falkirk in Scotland to keep his match fitness up before the World Cup. If Beauchamp does go somewhere to better himself before the World Cup, good luck to him!

Ahh, rightio then.
It would be a very difficult situation for Beauchamp and everyone involved.
I actually have no doubt that he is indeed good enough to possibly wiggle his way into the WC squad, particularly if we had one or injuries in central defence.
But it's fairly obvious that if he doesn't rack off o/s and play between now and May, his chances will drop to zero.
And at this stage of his career, as if he wouldn't gain enormously from playing at the WC, or even be in the squad or on the fringes, under Guus freaking Hiddink.
A very difficult situation for him and the Mariners, and I honestly could not fault him if he accepted any decent offers from o/s.

It's tough for sure. There's no way he would get any game time, but of course it would be good for him as a footballer.
However staying on here a year or two longer before he moved overseason would probably be best for his career on the whole, and he should be working out how to be a starter in the next world cup rather than a passenger in this one.
For example, if he stays in Australia he would surely get a few caps in Asian Cup games when the European baased players aren't available, plus he could work out the bugs in his game so that he was starting and not sitting on the bench when he moved to a big club.

Personaly I dont like all this moving around but thats just my opinion. From the players point of view they have to remain match fit, especially if they have a chance at playing in the World Cup

Absolutely WT. Although I would suspect that even if he moved to, say a Malaysian club to just keep playing, on loan, he'd be back for the next A-League season.
It's a difficult, someone unique one-off situation given the timing of our league. Perhaps ultimately he'd think it better to stick around, win a Premiership with the Mariners instead of throwing it all away to play in some tin-pot o/s league to maintain a slim chance of getting into the WC squad...let alone actually on the field.
Still, the WC is an enormous lure, and you'd have to say it would be understandable if he took a punt?.
Just on call-ups for Asian matches. The Bahrain game in Bahrain - which is not a FIFA date so will prove troublesome in getting Euro players released - could well see him called up.
But if Beauchamp - or any A-League player - gets a call up for that, the timing is dreadful.
A-League Semi Finals 2nd leg: Feb 17-19 A-League Preliminary Final: Feb 24-26 Australia v Bahrain: Feb 22.
Right smack bang in the middle.

I wouldn't blame Beauchamp for taking an offer. I'd prefer it to be a loan in the off season if he's looking for World Cup fitness.
WT has outlined something I didn't think about, The Asian Cup qualifiers, being outside of FIFA dates allows A-League players to play for the socceroos and further their international careers in which case it tmay be better for a player like Beauchamp to stick around for a while unless they get a 'too good to refuse' offer (eg. PSV)

The problem is Feb 22 is in the middle of the finals and we will be in it! The teams who aren't can supply: Milosevic, Caravella, Brosque, Gibson (if recovered), Richter, Thompson, Sarkies ..... then either Glory or Jests players! We'll need Euro players!

It's a shame that we have Bahrain on that date, they are the one team that I'd see as a barrier to our progress and with only half the A-League clubs able to supply (and one of them is KFC!) they'd be a chance at toppling us, guess we'll just have to see.
