Romario didn't do anything all game although Adelaide did very little to bring him into the game. As a 40 yr old you really need the ball played at your feet. They cant be expecting a half fit semi retired 40yr old to be running the miles up front. Even in his heyday he was never renowned for his work rate. He was a fabulous player in his time but personnally, i think Kosmina would see him more as a liability than an asset to his side over the next few weeks.
For weeks we have been missing gumps in the middle. Personnaly i am looking forward to the next few weeks when we have tommy, andrea and nik back to fitness. I think we are looking good for the finals

I cant understand why Browny isnt playing either. Personnally i think he is a better choice in the left mid role that Petrie.
I think we changed our shape when sully came on playing three a the back an five in the midfield which seemed to improve things a bit.
Danny was very composed a number of times when perth had chances in front of goal. I think he is developing into a fantastic keeper.

Iam glad all the boys came off the park uninjured. IT was the sort of conditions were even the best of intentions on the park could of left someone with serious injuries. People sliding everywhere.....

My kids were good enough to buy me a mariners home strip for fathers day. Great choice kids...............
My wife thought it was a bargin at $90 at rebel until i tried it on. Squeezing into the extra large i almost tore the ass out out of the back of it. Must be putting on some pudding i thought to myself!! Not so...It would appear that the XL shirt she purchased was a kids XL large not an adult xl. LOL
BE AWARE OF THIS IF YOU BUY A JERSEY OFF THE RACK FOR SOMEONE!!!!!!!!!! This might be why people think you can get them for $90 at rebel (only kids sizing can be acquired at this price at rebel).
Anyway, i took it back to rebel on sunday and had to make the choice between the home and away strip. MY son said the home strip and my daughters said the away strip. Its a difficult choice because the away strip this year really looks good.
I went the yellow.

Theres alot of pressure on ursus to step up to the plate and have a guess after the past performance
I am going to go 9343. I thought the crowds would be bigger thus far as well.

30 minutes would be great. I hope we get a good crowd this weekend. I think the roar would be huge when tony takes the field in the second half.

I'll look forward to seeing what a fit Jamie McMaster can do. He impressed me at different times last year and i think he will go good fully fit.
I think we are in for another good season. We are missing a couple of players but it looks like nick will be back at some stage to give us a new attacking option which i think we need.
I havent seen any of the trial matches this season

It would be interesting to hear a first hand account from someone who has played overseas for these big clubs.
I imagine there is this continuous revolving door of trialists coming and going at all clubs across europe every few weeks. People moving from one trial to the next hoping to snag a contract.
id be intested to read a posting from someone who knows something about what goes on.

Just out of interest, what do you think it would cost to be the sponsor on the front of the shirt??

Just got home. I dont think i could be more proud of our boys. I felt proud to be from the Central Coast today and have these magnificent guys out on the park representing us.
I thought we played extremely well. As good as ive seen for a long time. Its a pity we didnt make the most of our chances. While the game didnt go the way we would have liked, i thought overall it was a great game to top off the inaugural A-league season.
Your right about Michael Beauchamp. To be honest, tonight may well be his last game for us. I think he's certainly a front runner for a spot in the Australian backline. If we have a good run in the world cup, and hes a regular starter, a move to europe would have to be on the cards.

Maybe 2GO could refer the masses to the chant web page. They back the mariners to the hilt.

Just a thought, assuming that we have the sea of yellow in bays 1-6 on sunday as hoped, has anybody given any thought on how to co-ordinate the masses into a singing, chanting chorus line.
I am assuming that there would be alot of people sitting in this area who wont know the chants like the boys in bay 16. I am recounting the experience from the newcastle game the other night where bay 16 wasnt as effective as usual, perhaps because of the large number of new poeple sitting in this area that night who didnt know the words.
This was acknowledged in earlier postings and some suggested maybe a megaphone to get it happening.
Does anyone have a view on this or do you think its a non-issue?

Is anybody catching a train down on sunday?
If so, what time train? I wouldnt mind travelling with a few people if there's a crew going down with the SRA.

Your right rubbernose in relation to your comments about a 3-5-2. The flankers need to be very fit. You run your ass off all game because you are both an attacker and defender in this system.
I played in this format several years ago with a lot of success. We overcame the defensive weaknesses by using a sliding backline (sideways across the field) which moved as a unit across the park. With wingbacks dropping back to make a fourth fullback in defensive situations. Hense is why you need to be super fit to play in the wide role because you are up and down the park all day.
Another comment is that the three man backline needs to be very organised. I think our boys are and therefore i think it would work.

I have always believed we played better with a 3-5-2 formation and i think you are right WT about nick. Having the right players available to play a 3-5-2 is important, and i think his absence has probably upset the balance to play this formation.
One player who appears to be left out of some combinations proposed in this format is jamie mcmaster. He impressed me enough in the queensland game to be considered in a five man midfield, or pushed up front with tommy playing back in the middle with gumps.
One thing i have noticed in the past few games is that gumps has been clearly identified as our main man in midfield and as a result, he has been marked out of the game.
I think the extra man in the middle would free him up to do his stuff. While i wouldnt advocate a change this late in the season, if things arent happening for us by half time on the weekend my second half formation would be.
-----------Tommy-------Petrie -----Heff---Jamie--Spenny--Gumps------Sully -------------Wilko-----Clark------Beauchamp Danny or i would move tommy back to replace Jamie and push Jamie or play Adam up front.
