I dont think to many people are worried about our performance. Most of us have been watching the mariners play all year and we know that sometimes we turn on outstanding performances and sometimes we dont. The oppositions style of play is going to have a pretty big influence on that (as it did last night). Its all part & parcel of the game.
I am only sorry we didnt get to play one of those open free flowing dominant 4-1 displays that we put on a couple of weeks ago. These are the displays that will bring people back in there droves. I just hope that the new uninitiated supporter wont be to critical. (Maybe i am just analysing it too much)
It was a fantastic night just the same. I always wanted to know what a near capacity crowd would sound like when we scored.

I thought we played poorly tonight as well. There would have been alot of people at the game tonight who havent been to a mariners game before. My only regret is that we didnt play to our potential for them.
I great result just the same though. I hope sydney get up and we roll adelaide next week. Sydney vs CCM GF would be great.

you newcastle guys may want to watch a fox replay. The marinators were loud and clear coming through my tv back home.
I hope the squadron try and put on a few songs. I'll enjoy watching them get chanted down by the marinators.
"Can you here the squadron sing" "i cant here a bloody thing"

My son and i chatted with danny, hutcho & nigel out the front of rebal sports the day after we hammered newcastle. They were great, signed autographs, had a light chat with my son.
They are just fantastic.

I dont know how many tickets have been sold, but i know this. I purchased my tickets today and my beloved Bay 46 was sold out. I always sit here and couldnt get a spot there today.
I usually get my tickets the day of the game and have i've never had any trouble sitting here in the past. Even when there is the larger match day crowds.
It's definantly going to be a big one.
Just out of interest, i am taking along four people to the game who havent been before. I see it as sowing the seeds of a new branch of mariners supporters!
I hope you marinators put on a good show!!

What will the outcome be after this friday? The only sure thing is a new crowd record.
My guestimate is;
Crowd: 17326 Score: 2 - O mariners. win

I thought Jamie was great last night as well. And i agree that it would be an interesting pairing with gumps.
I have always thought that we play our best football with 3-5-2 formation which laurie was playing earlier in the year. Throughout the year we have struggled with player availability which has probably influenced the systems laurie has played.
After last night i was thinking that Brown,McMaster, Gumps, Spenny & sully would be an interesting midfield setup. However maybe the time for experiments is over.

The only thing that could have made tonight any better would have been kevin muscut getting sent off.
Another great night....

An interesting stat from last sundays game is that we pulled 2000 more people to this fixture than the same one last september. It will take time. Like Sam, i have introduced a number of people to the games. I know of several who are now regulars. Its a small contribution. You have to wonder what our crowd might be if every die hard supporter who attends the mariners games bought one new person along for a game. Perhaps this is a concept for the marinators to bolster their numbers. The goal is for each marinator to bring someone new along to the next game. The person who introduces the most gets beers purchased for them for the afternoon. I am sure that anybody new introduced to our games who sits in bay 16 will be a convert. What do you think boys...... "The Bring a Buddy" game pomotion.

I think the knights will get points against newcastle this week, i think that we will draw with the bling, and i think we will roll adelaide in a couple of weeks.
Whatever happens i would love to see the mariners play the bling in the grand final.

I am not sure whether the transfer window closes at the end of january everywhere, or just in europe.
If opporunities for loan moves in asia are available after january, I wouldnt be a bit surprised to see a number of our better players moving on to other asian leagues.
Its makes sense for the club to allow it to happen. i am sure they dont won't to be burdened with player payments during the off season.

[Maybe this is the other mysterious lad at the mariners training session. OOooooohhh the intrigue.................... Anybody else want to speculate?? The other bloke was not Australian. Possibly from Norway[/quote] NORWAY ! Great!... its probably Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. I'll phone the express advocate tomorrow and let them know.......................................on the other hand, i might pull my head in instead. On a more serious note, the FFA website has a full list of aussies playing overseas. www.footballaustralia.com.au/public/Contact/aussiesabroadlist.asp?categoryid=24&menuItemID=57A number of them i havent heard of before. It is interesting the amount of players who are playing in the lower leagues of europe. You have to wonder whether this is a better option than playing in the a-league. Without knowing alot of these guys i am unsure whether they would have alot to contribute to the league. Any comments?.

According to the FFA website Jamie is currently playing in Denmark for AGF Aarhus with another former Leeds and Aussie boy Shane Cansdell-Sheriff.
Maybe this is the other mysterious lad at the mariners training session.

If the NYE game is promoted as a family night it will be a winner. I spoke to my neighbour over the road this morning about what he was doing on nye with the kids. He had no idea so i suggested he go to the mariners game. Hes never been to a mariners game and thought it would be a good idea. Starts at 6.00pm and will be over by 8.30. Plenty of time to do other stuff throughout the evening.
A perfect night our for those of us with young familys. Add fire works to the mix and it will be a winner.

It is an issue that needs to be addressed. I think the team winning at home will help to bring the crowds in.
There are some interesting suggestions in this thread though. The half price tickets by wearing the current team strip is an excellent idea. So to is free entry for current junior players under 16. As it has been said, the parents will need to come along to the games and pay their own way.
Free tickets giveaways will certainly bring people in however i believe it needs to be done in a way that doesn't compromise current ticket sales.
How might this occur? I know that the mariners do training seasons at various schools around the central coast at the moment. I have wondered about how it would go if free family passes (four tickets) where given to every student at the school when these training seasons are run. Most schools have probably about 750 students on average i would say. If 500 of these kids got their familys along to the game it would increase the numbers by 2000 per game.
I would think that ticket give aways on this basis would probably have a minimal affect on the current ticket sales which is what the club would want. Secondly, because each training session is run at a different school, the tickets would be given to a new select group of people each game.
If you introduce 500 new familys to a home game each week through free tickets, you may retain 150 of these familys for the next home game. The difference being they are now paying customers.
Lets face it, the tickets given away arent being sold anyway so what is there to lose?
I would propose that a new thread be set up in this forum which brainstorms ideas for bringing the crowds in (minus all the blah).
What do you guys think?

Guus should put muscat in the first leg of the uruguay game as a impact sub. He could go on in the last 5 minutes of the second half and create an impact by kicking the shit out of recoba so he wont be available for the second game......................Sure hell get sent off, but i figure at that stage of the game we could go the distance with 10 men............ but then again, i dont think he would get out of the stadium alive...........

I reckon the existing record will be smashed like a guitar on the 5th
13,500 + i believe.
As a general note, do you guys see the supporter base increasing? It wasnt so long ago the base seemed to be about 5500. Since then we have had 9300 and i think 6500 was a good crowd for the perth game considering it was pissing down raining for the whole game.
I reckon we will get 9500 locals + 4000 sydney FC fans travelling...

Well here i go.......
Signed up tonight and just recieved my first message from Kevrenor informing me that he believes i am the 500th member to this forum... cool
I must say that breazing through the posts its encouraging to see that there are many people out there who want to see the mariners go well and attract big crowds from the central coast.
I have been to all but two of the games thus far, and like many others, i have been disappointed with the crowds to date. I feel encouraged by the work so many fans appear to be doing to get the ball rolling. I look forward to contributing to this forum and throwing a hat in the ring to help.
Keep the faith people, i am sure things will happen.

I'd like to put forward a motion that everyone, from here on in, ignores that little twerp and his knob-jockey mate, muscat'sbastardson. They are just kiddies that are fishing........... Why do you bag Muscat? How many Mariner player have/have the abilty to play for Australia? Michael Beachamp to answer your question. For the record, Kevin Muscut HAD the ability. It was something he lost a long time ago
