So who's going up from the city this arvo? Are we catching the 6.00 train to Epping? Want to meet at intercity ticket barriers at say, 5.40?

Not actually considering taking flares into ground, was meant as a joke. Stupid lack of context when typing. Should learn emoticons better...

Any chance of getting them into ground?

Remember, there's going to be more than 40,000 people in the ground. That's a lot of ambient noise. If we're going to be heard at all, we need all 5000 in the away end to be chanting as one.
Simple songs are the go. MARINERS clap clap clap might not be the most witty song, but its simple to learn and people will join in (can't quite imagine my mum and dad, who'll be at the game, joining in 'I wanna f*** Pierre's daughter').

I keep hearing both. The PG version will be better for Sunday (and probably just better fullstop)

Like the Simpsons when Homer skips church and dreams he meets God. God says, "You know Homer, sometimes I'd rather spend my Sundays watching football"

I wonder how many other Coastie ex-pats are out there supporting the team? When it was announced that the Coast had been given a team I asked dibo (we'd both been living down in Sydney for a few years) whether we'd support the Mariners or the Bling. We thought about it for about half a second... Even for those of us that don't still live on the Coast, or have spent a long time living away from the area, the Mariners have given a real pride in the area. BTW, Omni, what are the 'Tahs' and the 'Brumbies'? ;D ;D

Still a very poor showing by the Adelaide fans. Must'nt be good for the players when your 'fans' don't bother to show up for the most important match of the season to date. Shows that some cities aren't treating the league with the respect it has deserved (cue the smug satisfaction of the Mariners fan, where football is the #1 game in town )

As a relative newcomer, I think its important to make sure that the bay and the Marinators are as inclusive as possible, but, as last Friday showed, it needs to be organised.
If we can talk the club and Ticketek to make 15, 16 and 17 Marinators, or 'The Dock' specific GA tickets, along with a disclaimer about expected behaviour in the area, that would help.
I like the earlier ideas about making our own signs and warnings about behaviour in the area. I was thinking about this after Friday night. Maybe we could make our own 'code of conduct' flyers briefly explaining appropriate behaviour in the area.
Could be things like:
Expected to stand
Expected to sing, and follow the lead of the leaders with megaphones (assuming we have them for the start of next season).
Expected to wear yellow (although I don't think we should not let anyone in if they're newish and not wearing yellow)
Not act like a dickhead to other fans in the area. This will not be tolerated - anyone doing so will be asked to leave the area.
Don't stand in certain parts of the bay (these reserver for 'core' Marinators, maybe could be roped off).
General disclaimer: Bay 16 is for supporting, not posing. Anybody not willing to comply with the above behaviour should sit elsewhere in the ground.
On the other side of the flyers, we could print basic songs and chants. We could get Marinators to volunteer to get into the ground early and stand at the top of the two aisles leading to Bay 16 handing out the flyers.
I think peer pressure, for most games, will make sure most people go along with 'rules' like this.
This would all depend on how much the club and security will let us self-police. If we can get tacit agreement on their part (I don't think they could officially sanction it), it could work.
Pre-empting a vote on what to call the are, I think 'The Dock' is great. It has a great double meaning ;D

Adelaide's the murder capital of Australia (or maybe that's Wollongong). Must be a song or two about gruesome murders for Sunday

Q. You're out driving and see a kid in a scum jersey riding a bike. Do you swerve to hit him? Why/why not?
A. No. Its probably your bike.
New teacher's first day teaching at a Newcastle school. Teacher tries to break the ice with the kids by asking "Who here's a Jets fan?"
All the kids raise their hands except one. The teacher asks this kid "Timmy, aren't you a Jets fan?"
Timmy: "No, I'm a Mariner"
Teacher's starting to lose her cool and asks "Why are you Mariner?"
Timmy: "Well, my mum's a Mariner, and my Dad's a Mariner, so I'm a Mariner"
Teacher's really losing it now and shoots back "Well, if your mum was a prostitute and your dad was in jail, what would you be?"
Timmy: "A Jets fan"
Anybody else got any jokes (even if they're, like mine, they're copied from overseas clubs)?

"What's it like to see a crowd?" at the Squadron before kickoff? I've heard Forest fans (Forest are getting about 20,000 to English third division matches) sing this to fans of smaller clubs (ie everyone else it that crap division ) and it works really well

I remember hearing something about an overseas football tournament in June that we might want to watch. Or is that stating the obvious?

Apparently lots of people are buying the box set anyway. Album is best of the last few - shows the good that having a few years between albums can do for a band's creativity
