Wilko has matured incredibly over the past couple of seasons. The more responsibility he's been given, the better he's played. Being given the captaincy will improve him even more, and will also boost his confidence - let him know he's done a good job as captain so far.
That said, I'd be surprised if he sees out his new contract. More than 1 club in Europe will be eyeing him & Danny up. Still, more proof that Lawrie & Co know where the priorities are.....
