APEC public holiday on the friday too. Isn't that only for those working in Sydney? Yep, I'm not sure if it is only the CBD or the whole greater Sydney Metro area. They are trying to cut down on traffic as there will be road blocks and all sorts of security in the area. Including strip searches in certain areas.

Our company has branches in Sydney & Gosford. Some people work at both sites, so to be fair they're giving everyone the day off. Don't know if many other businesses are doing the same.

I'm looking at train travel there and back. First Class, during daylight hours that's $280 (return) from Strathfield to Melbourne - Southern Cross Station. (But I'm lucky, being State Transit staff I can hopefully get a freeby to the border and only pay for the First Class upgrade and the portion that's in Victoria). From Southern Cross Station in Melbourne, there's a Formule 1 Hotel in Bourke Street (about 4 blocks away), and the Telstra Dome is about the same distance, in the other direction, from the train station. As I am on hols, I plan to travel to Melbourne on the Saturday, see the match on the Sunday, and return to Sydney on the Monday.
