This boy is a monster.
He looked quality to me the other night. In fact he looked more assured than Wilko. Tough tackler, fast, good in the air, and he gets forward well.
Looks a better Centre Back than anyone else in the squad. Vidmar is classy but is a bit slow. I'd like to see Boogard and Viddy together with wilko at Right back. Clarkey is positionally suspect at RB. Brown looked very solid at LB.

I think O'Grady said before last season that Boogard would take his spot

If the recent reports are anything to go by i reckon we should sign him. He can score goals too - I think he even scored one today in the Hong Kong 7's

I would be very surprised if Boogs wasn't signed this year.

It is pleasing to me that Boogs has 'comeback' during the HAL off season, to the point where the fans here are trumpetting his cause for a renewed contract. What I saw at the Malay game, he certainly has presence and heaps of ability. Yes, I agree that teaming him with Vidmar would be a good idea (I think Boogs could learn a heap from Viddy playing matches alongside him), but I'm not fussed about shifting Wilko onto the right fullback position, given he's really done nothing wrong at CB. But, if you consider the prospects of injury, form slump etc. Boogs, Wilko, Vidmar and O'Grady could all co exist in any combo depending upon Lawrie's strategy and availability. You have to also consider age. Both Clarkey and Vidmar are senior players and have had their fair share of injury last season, and a young, fit and keen to prove Boogs will provide a more than satisfactory replacement for either of these players in CB. I had doubts that Boogs could overcome the injury he had last season (from what I read on the injury it did seem long term and chronic), but obviously he can handle playing at the level that Lightning play (he's been a star for them this winter season). Given that he may not be always playing week in week out for the Mariners, he's definately a good prospect to sign.

He is awesome, I remember his old man, a very tough competitor!! Sign him ffs i was coached by his old man in newcastle - the only player i have seen to stomp on a player's head and only get a yellow card - that was the reverence he was held in you cannot compare wilko to boogs the other night - boogs came on in the second half when the pace of the game slowed immensely

Wilko wasn't fat - he only looked like that at Pluim, because he had a singlet, T-Shirt and a thermo skin vest on under his jersey to keep warm ffs! ;D

it was funny seeing all the players and spectators so rugged up and fergi in shorts!
boogs' old man was a hard defender and scored plenty of headers from corners
played many years in the national league
nigel is a technically better player and if he stays fit will have a sterling a-league career

Oh and I remember Weston Bears we played there Sydney City v Weston Bears (in their juventus strip) in the NSL cup and us Youth players got a run. We won 7 or 8 -0, but there was an enormous crowd.
