Always happy, Curious, to consider other's points of view.
My point is probably more about the "spiel" from Central Coast Football to fix the age old controversy about selections.
I'm sure 99% of the best players are playing SYL for Lightning or PYL in Sydney, however, a number of players playing in the 16A comp have "been there and done that" and chose not to do it this year.
If it is a pre-requisite to play SYL or higher to make the Academy fair enough but that should be stated up front.
As for Hunter Sports High coaching might be OK but you wouldn't go there if you are looking for regular quality games against other sports high schools.

I didn't say it was a pre-requisite to play in an elite youth comp, simply that it makes it extremly difficult if it isn't the case. I think you have your wires crossed regarding Hunter Sports High. It competes in the same state schools comp as every other sports high school, playing against schools such as Westfield, Endeavour sports high ect. in Sydney, down to Illawarra Sports High School, as well as regular "friendlys" against NSWIS, NNSWIS & state league squads. Coaching is from 8am to 10am Tuesdays & Thursdays throughout the school year & is conducted by full time staff which includes two present day state league head coaches, a former regular Matilda player & regular assistance from Gary Vanegmond. It is an academy in itself, as are all the sports high schools which follow the same structure & has students from the C.Coast, the far west & north coast regions of the state. I think that's better than "OK", don't you?

actually,i have been through the whole selection process guys. This was for our age: First round was with all the clubs on the coast being contacted to send their best U18's player(s) and in ours, only 5 got chosen from about 20 odd.
Second round was those 5 plus lightning. From here, about 9 or 10 were chosen.
Final round, the academy has been looking all over for players from aboad. Gradually, some manly guys, spirit guys and a couple of individual invitations (brady, dane fearnley etc) which has been great.
Everyone got a look in. It was quite a fair process. In the early stages, many different mariners players came to the selections so that they had multiple opinions on who should continue...
