Just got back. Was not to cold at all down there. 3 hours from Hornsby to Canberra, including a 15 lunch stop (great driving fish) and a very convincing performance from the boys. Special mention to Browny, and their young keeper, dead set 4 foot nothing but had a blinder.
Well done to "the Belconnen 6" who made the trip down. Bit disappointing considering the distance, I thought there would have been a few more of us there.

Ben Cheyne made 20 saves for the match. It tells us a lot about where the Mariners are compared to last year.

And I reckon 15 of them were probably in the 1st half.

Just got back. Was not to cold at all down there. ;D Well done to the belconnen players, although outclassed they came and played football and for the most part didn't resort to hacking our players. Great ground, hopefully we'll return next year, and the club put on a good bbq too.

What a great little trip. Bear your kidding not that cold lol it was f***ing freezing.Only started to get feeling in my feet this morning.Arguably one of the best set ups Ive seen in a long time great pitch, fantastic club just to f***ing cold. Thought the boys played very well given the conditions stand outs for mine were Browny,Tommy and Kwas was full of running and the great man Nik Mrdja looks to have recaptured a bit if his touch.Regardless of the opposition who were very willing the entire game the boys looked very sharp in patches.Agree with Bear their keeper was outstanding.

Not cold at all? ?? It was deadset freezing - though fergie was still wearing shorts Excellent effort from the Mariners - kept possession and moved the ball well but some outstanding Belconnen keeping and some slack finishing flattered the home team. First half formation was: Trott Boogaard Wilkinson Vidmar Heffernan Osman Pondeljak Hutchinson Brown Kwasnil Petrovski We then went to a 3-5-2 second half with what looked pretty close to a starting eleven bar the defence: Vukovic Clark O'Grady Wilkinson Mile Kwasnik Gumprecht Pondeljak Brown Mrdja Petrovski Some wasteful finishing and great saves in the first half with most chances coming then. Heffernan didn't get forward much and must still be feeling the effects of his bad flu and lack of game time. Petrovski worked very hard, looked impressive, if not a little slow. Pondeljak was running the show in the middle and Vidmar spent more time coming forward than defending (as any good sweeper should do against a weak opposition). Second half Danny did not make a save. It was so good to see Mile, Gumps and Tommy all playing together in the middle. Mrdja played very well and beat their seven foot stopper to almost every header as well as two clinical strikes. Big thumbs down to Ty Owens who came on in the second half. Kwasnik sent a perfect low ball across the six yard box and no one latched onto it. Owens had the hide to give Kwasnik a gobfull even though he was in the wrong position. Mrdja told owens to pull his head in. If he has an attitude like that at 16 then I am not sure he is a potential Mariners player. A few clips behind the ears from Fergie will hopefully send him straight. Enjoyable night despite the cold and racing Fish on the immaculate highway back at about 150ks made the trip home quick.

Special mention to Browny, and their young keeper, dead set 4 foot nothing but had a blinder. He had been training with the Mariners a couple of weeks ago.

I agree, but at 16 most boys think they're the shit (especially if they're in Ty's sotuation) so maybe that'll be sorted out. That may make him unfit to be a Mariner but I'm sure he'd be welcome in Bay 16 with that attitude
