URGENT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS THERE ANYONE ON THIS FORUM THAT WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND THIS GAME ON THURSDAY NIGHT THIS WEEK??? It will cost $80 to change the names on the flight ticket, and that is the only money I want back (plus perhaps a beer or 2 at the game ). The details are as followed... Departing - Newcastle Thur 6th Sep 1:45pm Arriving - Brisbane Thur 6th Sep 2:50pm And back... Departing - Brisbane Fri 7th Sep 6:00am Arriving - Newcastle Fri 7th Sep 7:15am Would suit someone from the coast/scumcastle area, and someone who wants to drink with the away crew all night, and who needs no sleep PM or POST ASAP if you want it, as I need to contact Deathstar within 24hours of departure to make changes Times running out for anyone who wants this ticket. I need an answer by half 1 today so I can change the name on the booking. Ticket goes to waste if no-one claims it... AND you get to fly Air Murphs

Central Coast Mariners Media Release Wednesday, 5 September -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Local trio promoted for Brisbane jaunt Damien Brown, Andrew Clark and Andrew Redmayne, three iconic starlets of the Central Coast football scene, have been promoted to the Central Coast Mariners squad to take on the Queensland Roar at Suncorp Stadium tomorrow night. In the absence of Dean Heffernan, Bradley Porter and Danny Vukovic, each of whom are unavailable by virtue of their involvement with the Qantas Socceroos and the Qantas Under 23’s respectively, Brown, Clark and Redmayne have been promoted to the Mariners’ 15-man line up that will be hoping to notch their first ever Hyundai A-League win over their orange-clad counterparts. While Brown became the first Central Coast born and raised player to notch 50 appearances in the final round of the 2007 Pre-Season Cup, Clark, another foundation Mariners squad member, is one appearance away from his half-century of caps for his hometown club. Qantas Young Socceroo goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne has earned his first Mariners squad berth, and will compete with fellow local product Matthew Trott for starting honours at Suncorp Stadium. Aside from Heffernan, Porter and Vukovic, the Mariners will be without injured captain Alex Wilkinson for their fourth Hyundai A-League trip to Queensland, where they will be hoping to claim their third consecutive win of the new season. "We could have believed that we’d win two games but the fact that everybody else has drawn is very unusual to say the least, but it’s worked out great for us," said Mariners Football Manager Lawrie McKinna. "It gives us a nice little buffer zone but it’s too early to get carried away with that we just have to get back to working hard and that’s what the boys have been doing. "You draw your away games and win your home games and you’ll win the league, but if we can get three points up there it’ll be great. "I’m sure we’ll have a few travelling Members going up and it would be great to make it a worthwhile trip for them." Thursday’s match will be the Mariners’ 26th Hyundai A-League encounter away from home. Much in accordance with their record at Bluetongue Stadium, the Mariners’ statistics away from home feature an almost equal amount of wins, draws and losses. In 25 matches on the road, the Mariners have recorded nine wins, eight draws and eight losses, scoring 28 goals and conceding just as many in the meantime. At Suncorp Stadium, the venue for Thursday’s match, the Mariners have recorded three consecutive draws against the Queensland Roar. Interestingly, none of the Mariners’ goal scorers on each of those occasions are still with the club – Noel Spencer, Stewart Petrie, Wayne O’Sullivan and Damian Mori. The Mariners will go head-to-head with their bogey team, the Queensland Roar, for the eleventh time in all competitions this Thursday. Of all the Mariners’ Hyundai A-League opponents, the Roar are the only side they have never defeated during a Hyundai A-League season and in all competitions, the Mariners have recorded less wins against the Roar than any other team. The Mariners have not defeated the Roar in any competition since 23 July, 2005, when a Nik Mrdja hat trick inspired the yellow and navy to a 3-1 win in the opening round of the 2005 Pre-Season Cup. Since that day, the Mariners have gone nine matches without defeating Queensland, who have scored victories over the Mariners on two occasions in such time. The Mariners have scored 13 goals against the Roar in all matches and conceded 14. "They’re a very open, attacking team and they’re always great games," said McKinna. "They’ve always just had the edge over us – a few games last year we probably had the run over them, but they either came back to draw or beat us. "They’ll be disappointed to have drawn with Newcastle because they did very well to go 1-0 up. "We want to win the game – we’ve said before that every game we go into we want to win and it’s no different on Thursday." Central Coast Mariners Squad 1. Matthew Trott (gk), 2. Matt Simon, 6. Andre Gumprecht, 7. John Hutchinson, 9. Nik Mrdja, 10. Tom Pondeljak, 11. Damien Brown, 13. Tony Vidmar, 15. Andrew Clark, 16. Nigel Boogaard, 17. Matthew Osman, 19. Adam Kwasnik, 22. Sasho Petrovski, 23. Mile Jedinak, 30. Andrew Redmayne (gk) The Mariners’ Hyundai A-League 2007/08 season continues away to the Queensland Roar this Thursday, 6 September. Kick off is at 8pm. Bluetongue Stadium will next host the Mariners on Sunday, 23 September, when the Perth Glory travel to the Central Coast for Round 5 of the new season. Kick off is at 5pm. Tickets are on sale now from Ticketek outlets, from the Ticketek website – www.ticketek.com.au, or via phone on 132 849. Mariners Memberships for the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 season are now available for purchase online at www.ccmariners.com.au, or from Rebel Sports outlets at Erina and Tuggerah. Ends

i guess it may be a straight swap with trotty and browny

Packer in doubt for Roar Wednesday, 5 September 2007 Andrew Packer Queensland defender Andrew Packer had to be helped from the field towards the end of the Roar's Wednesday morning training session with his participation against the Central Coast Mariners in doubt because of a calf injury. Less than 36 hours before Queensland is due to meet the league leader at Suncorp Stadium, Roar boss Frank Farina will most likely have to reshuffle his back four yet again. "I'm not a doctor or a physio but it didn't look good. I think he's most probably popped his calf muscle," Farina said straight afterwards. "He'll go down to see (physio) Tony (Ganter) and we'll know more in the next hour or so." After coming through 90 minutes against the Jets on Sunday unscathed following a pre-season hamstring layoff, Packer was expected to line up at left-back with Ben Griffin reverting to right-back and returning captain Craig Moore partnering Josh McCloughan in central defence. Former Socceroos defender Danny Tiatto was set to become the third player trusted in Queensland's midfield holding role with Chris Grossman sidelined because of an infected foot and Stuart McLaren suspended following his red card against Newcastle in the previous round. But Packer hit the ground during the Roar's intensive 90-minute training session at Richlands, immediately signalling discomfort in his right calf and calling for assistance. The 26-year-old was then helped from the field by Ante Milicic and threw down his boots in frustration on the sidelines. "He was running around and then fell down," midfielder Matt McKay explained. "It just tightened up and he couldn't walk on it." "It doesn't look good for tomorrow but hopefully he'll be right for the weeks to come." "It's a big blow … but we've got plenty of cover." Central defender Sasa Ognenovski trained fully but will not be risked by Farina after rolling both ankles before the Roar's trip to EnergyAustralia Stadium in round two. "He still feels it a little bit in certain movements, movements which are his bread and butter," Farina said. "But he'll be definitely fine for Perth (in round four)." Milicic, meanwhile, has shaken off the knock which saw him miss the encounter against his former club and teenage striker Robbie Kruse is also back in full training after fracturing his cheekbone in pre-season. www.a-league.com.au/default.aspx?s=hal_newsdisplay&id=19122------------------------------------------------------------ Look out Hutch!!!

word on the street is that redmayne will start Big game for him to start in. I cant decide if it would be more or less pressure for him, considering the role we are on. Either that, or your bored at work, and your fishing...

Either that, or your bored at work, and your fishing... no fishing but it may be wrong as it only came from one source (albeit reliable one) he has just come off the Victorian Premier League season where he played thirty odd matches so will be more match sharp than trotty but it does make you nervous doesn't it? mainly because we have not seen him play

Makes me feel the same way I felt before the recent Aus vs URGAY game, more than anything I would want him to play well, for himself, and not let in a howler like Jones.

If Lawrie didn't think that he'll be up to it, he wouldn't put him in.

Trotty will start IMO, that's why Lawrie gave him so much time in pre-season.
I would not be surprised to see the same lineup as last week except Trotty for Vuka and Brown for Heff.
