I once went from bay 16 and stood with friends at the back of 18; surprising how being just a little off-centre can actually improve your view (a bit).
It made me think how good it would be if (one day / in our dreams) the bay started from the corner (bays 20-21) and stretched along to bay 16, with the away bay still in the other corner.
Bay 21 would be prime real estate if that were the case - atmosphere with an improved view.

Disadvantage - passive emos replaced by irritated families and 'die-hards' who pay 'good money' for their half way seats and don't want to be bothered by atmosphere - it makes it too hard to hear the voice talking about the Central Coast MARINERS (..ariners...ariners...) over the PA interesting that the squadron are in the stands, have a reserved seating area and are actually going through the same sort of issues as us

It's not actually a silly suggestion - I was asked by someone at the club if we would prefer to go elsewhere in the stadium?
1 negative thou would also be the Cove and Squadron potentially taking over bay 16, do we want the away fans behind the goal?

We are seriously considering forcing all patrons to go through gene therapy so they become marinators, join in and the whole stadium has atmosphere!

We're not seriously contemplating this, are we?? Are we?? *_sincerely_ hopes not* seems some people are complaining about bay 16 not being reserved and full of part timers 1 hr before ko.........would be a solution. What's the difference from reserving bay 16 to moving bays? apart from a different view? I seriously doubt it would ever happen but if it's reserved seats people want and the club don't want to make bay 16 reserved............makes sense if these issues are annoying people.

I have often thought of a band of 'travelling marinators' visiting different bays over the season (and I'm talking minimum 100 people) to see if we could educate the rest of the stadium on the words of chants, the chanting culture, the fact that its actully a lot of fun and so are we....etc etc. that way we get the best of both worlds, as we have been discussing the fact that bay 16 is getting crowded and that would make more space there whilst 'promoting' the marinators to the rest of the stadium. Might be something to think about? Can you just imagine the panic it would send through the security to see over 100 marinators walking over to another bay?

Any bay change should be to bays at the other end of the stadium if they got up. So as the noise would carry with the breeze that flows off the water.
Wouldnt want away bays behind the goals. Perhaps organise with the stadium to put them on the opposite side of the stadium up the same end as us. Would increase banter, noise, and could still call to danny. Also improved view.
If we were to move.

Please permit me an indulgence that is off topic to this thread, but already commented on by others.
Re: Bay 16 - Marinators etc.
A fair number of us on this forum have ALREADY taken up residence in the stands away from Bay 16.
I suggest that it would not be fair for any of us who have these seats to start opening comment about moving the Marinators support section from Bay 16. Those who still go there on a regular basis, who have the GA season ticket, should be the only ones who should be raising this issue and also voting on any motion put about such matters.
I doubt the folks in Bay 16 would be agreeable to a move, but they need to be consulted should opportunities present themself. Maybe go through the Club Captain on this one and maybe discussion both in the Kendall and Bay 16 prior to the start of a match.
The Marinators Club wants to be inclusive, so I would respectfully suggest that involvement of those who a move would affect the most, would be top priority. If no consultation is made with the folks in Bay 16, (some of whom don't frequent this forum, aren't a member of the Marinators Club, or go to the Kendall pre game) I think we may run the risk of splitting loyalties.
Also, as there are now already a fair number of Marinator-type folks in the stands (particularly the western stand) maybe there can be representations put to Ivan to have all of us together in one block at an appropriate Bay (5,6,7 or 40, 41) -for NEXT SEASON?
Thanx for off topic post.

We're not seriously contemplating this, are we?? Are we?? *_sincerely_ hopes not* ..... ........ .. .... ....... .. .... ....... ...... ........ ;D I agree. Bay 16 is the spiritual home. Although, if pushed, I'd move to Bay 20/21 for a few reasons: 1) closer to the entrance, so could infect all patrons with our passion as they come in - sound, songs, colour, characters, etc. 2) Better view 3) Could be more visible by the TV cameras (have to check that one) 4) Some of the sound could be caught by the nearby roof and projected across the ground 5) Still far enough away from the 'I hate atmosphere, pass me a Sao' brigade in the main stands 6) Slightly closer to the Kendall 7) Closer to the food, drinks and dunnies 8) Because of the angle, better able to co-ordinate chants, TIFO, as we'd (with Bays 19 & 22) more of a 'C' shape, and could see those whole bays more easily Down side: 1) Might need nuclear strength sunnies - looking more directly into the setting sun 2) further away from the visitors bay, so harder to hurl abuse ;D

Pete - this is an open forum and people can have an opinion
Regarding a move in bays, it's not gonna happen, we will always be bay 16 and it's surrounding bays.

My family and I are 'die-hards' who pay 'good money' for their half way seats. I chose to move there after the CWC not to get away from the 'atmosphere' but to get closer to the action. These old eyes aren't what they used to be.
I won't get into whether the 'Marinators' should move - that is a matter for those who sit in Bay 16 - but I would love to see some 'travelling marinators' to educate the other bays.

I think a travelling group is worth a try tbh.Needs a bit of work to assure people they wont get bombarded but for the pure reason of getting those in other parts invovled I think its got merit.

A travelling 100 marinators will decimate bay 16.
Though, as I said previous, the roof over other sections would ensure they created a better atmosphere than the bay anyway.
I do not know how loud we sound from various areas of the stadium during the match. I do know that when there is much of a breeze, I can barely hear the people singing 12 rows behind me.

I think a smaller group of hardcore (15 - 20), who can run chants and get others on the fringe involved with making some organised noise would be great. I wouldnt wamt to move bay 16, tradition etc, and all the points raised before this...

I think the best option is to slowly expand the crew, and influence others down the sides to take up the chants, This is the only way we are going to get alot more noise. To spread some mariners cheer around the stadium is the way to go...If it is done right, we could have half the stadium all on one song in a couple of years, that should be the goal I think!
Personally I like to move aound the ground a bit, Bay 16 when I want atmos and font row around half way when I want to have my input to the benches and ref's. Upstairs can even be fun cuz it looks like foxtel!!
I think the Emos and tri_hards just have to be slowly weeded out, by consistent chants and songs that are in unison and loud!! You cant fight the tide!!
