;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D The spark we had been missing for the last few weeks. A player consisting of nothing but sheer and utter class, whom I would pay to watch play week in and week out (well, I do anyway, but you know what i mean). When he is on fire, no-one is going to touch him. Shoelady (and everyone else!!!) will attest to my man love for Tommy. WORLD CLAAAARRRRSSSSSH!!! I'd have his babies. Serious like crazy. P.S. Boogs is on Tommy's level, but as a defender. What a gun.

he should never have had to warm the bench, when we get wilko, vidmar and mrdja back and with him hitting form we will get onto another one of the winning streaks we enjoyed for the 1st part of the season

Agree his gaol maybe goal of the season, its the best this year. He also gave away a bit of ball as well, he needs Jedi & Hut alongside him for the heavy stuff.

Is there any truth to the rumour I heard tonight that he has had a fair few niggling injuries so far this season?
I hope that is true because otherwise Lawrie has made a big mistake by not starting for this long. I'm just worried as to where abouts he will go when we have a full defence back, assuming Mile Jedinak will go back to midfield. I don't think Hutcho can be take out of the middle. He uses his body so brilliantly and his distribution is the best I have seen from a Mariners player in some time.
IMO him and Jedinak don't need to start every game. If there isn't a person for Jedinak to man-mark, such as Juninho, I would prefer to see Hutcho sit deep while Tommy plays the playmaker role on top of the midfield diamond.

As someone said before we are not intertwined within the squad so we dont know why Tommy has been rarely used.Lets just say hes back to his old self and hopefully we see alot more of him

Agreed that Tommy's goal was good quality finishing, something we need -particularly when Nik is off the field, and Sasho & Mori get tired. Maybe Lawrie felt he had to bench Tommy because control of the centre midfield is important. But yesterday's game, with Jedi at CB and Hutch at Defensive Centre mid, probably gave Lawrie the opportunity to run Tommy for a full game in the thick of it.

Fantastic goal by Tommy! But my player of the game had to be Hutch. He saved us a few times during the game, notably in the first half with a goal line clearance.I've never sung Hutcho Hutcho Man so much at a mariners game! I'm pretty happy with one all considering we still have Vidmar, Wilko and Mrdja to come back in.

We need Vidmar back ASAP, Jedi tried hard - did the job- last night but at this level he struggles at CB. Has he ever played that far back in senior ranks? Much better player a fraction forward at Defensive centre mid (and I love what Jedi does there). Vidmar back will give Wilko time to get 100% fit rather than being rushed back. Then there's O'Grady due back, so the future for CBs is looking better on the horizon.

O'Grady - I knew there was more players out than those three! Ah depth is a wonderful thing!

Was talking to stringers mrs yesterday he is monthS away Sh*t yeah? That's bad news -for both O'Grady and the club. Initial reports had him return from shoulder surgery about October or so, so has there been complications?

Was talking to stringers mrs yesterday he is monthS away Even still, next week is the big hurdle. If we can survive that, we can get through anything (squad-depletion-wise, esp. in defense) - Viddy back the following week - Wilko not too far behind (hopefully?) - P. O'G can return later in the season - perhaps to relieve Vidmar as he can't risk getting another red It wouldn't be out of the question to be on top of the table halfway through the season, having gotten there with a rather depleted squad, and a stronger squad available for the remainder.

That is bad news about O'Grady.....I knew Wilko would be out for a bit longer, but was hoping we wouldn't have to rely on Vidmar to plug the gap at the back. Even before his red cards, he hadn't been totally convincing for me. Even when he's back, he only needs 1 more red card, and he'd be in real trouble.

Good point. I believe we're yet to see the team play near its full potential, and I think it will evolve as the season goes on. Will we still need Hutch's calming qualities in the centre in a few weeks? Will Tommy cement his place now? Will Mrdja come back for good? Will we go to a back three of Wilko, Boogs and Viddie when they are all available? Lawrie has also shown he will drop anyone who isn't performing, no matter if you're Gumps or Heff, so who know what sort of team he will settle on when we make our run in the back end of the season.
