lol, and it could so easily be fixed by reversing the order of the words...
Instead of White membership have: Membership - White
and instead of White Family have: Family - White
etc
DONE!

I think the fact that it didn't even enter their heads is testament to the fact that there is absolutely no racism within the club at all!

But like it or not some view the Central Coast as a 'uniform' area in terms of racial mix and the unintended message from this reinforces that belief. For those who remember S Africa and Apartheid, the term White, used in terms of segregating crowds, was extremely sinister. To some people it still carries those undertones. That's where the humour lies for me, because it is being used so innocently. Of course a joke isn't funny if it needs explanation. You either see it or you don't. Some who don't might be being a bit sensitive about their beloved Mariners and afraid to laugh at themselves. I vote: Funny!! (how come no-one spotted this before now?) |

I had to look twice when I looked at my membership and it said 'WHITE ADULT'. I thought 'I don't remember giving them that info on my application  ' Funny enough to warrant a thread? Nah... |
