Have it on good knowledge that CCU are on the verge of collapse. Aparently they are broke and have asked the CCSA to bail them out. One of the reasons I think was that to break even playing at Express Advocate they needed to get 2000 people through the gates. Obviously didn't work out that way...Will be interesting to see if this has any impact on the Mariners....

The local paper the last few days has been about leaving the stadium, and on friday about a player exodus due to the financial situation, that is all I know. But signs certainly aren't looking good.

All players were there last night, except Shane Knight who wasn't at St George last week either! Players were pretty fired up for the game but credit to the players no one is talking of these problems outside. The rumour is that training on Tuesday is the deadline for player payments. Let us hope they aren't 'farked'. Great game BTW - see report at: www.back-of-the-net.com

Knighty may have been posted away though. He just finished teaching at Uni. It may be unrelated and the timeframe of his dissappearance would add up

They are in trouble because a major sponsorship deal with Telstra collapsed at the beginning of the season. They signed players on this expected money.

LEEEEEEDS UNITED!
Just like the expected money of the Champions League to play everyones inflated wages and transfer fees, you have to get into the champs league first!
The laws of football work on all scales....but at least Leeds are on the way back up now! If disaster strikes at CCU im not sure how they can come back any time in the near future though...

Why are you guys so supprised by all of this i warned you all last year taht this would happen, the latest gossip is that ccufc have missing an unexplained $700,000.00. The question the ccsa is pondering is do they go after the directors assests to recoup the money or do they just lodge ccufc bankrupt.

Not surprised lass, just disappointed that the same old keeps happening in football, usually by people who should know better! I'll still be there tonight at Marconi watching them .. talented bunch of lads ... not their fault.

I feel for the senior players. But the facts are that they have been dupped just like the rest of us. The sad truth now is that there is no representative sides on the central coast. So all the talented kids that are coming through now either have to go to sydney or stay at club level. And why all because a handful of greedy old men found a money tree that was free for the pickings.

Coast won 1-0 at home to rival Parramatta Eagles. Alas Mitchell Prentice sent off.
We hover above the last 3 relegation zone on goal difference only and need to keep winning!

And why all because a handful of greedy old men found a money tree that was free for the pickings. Thats the sad fact. We (central coast) have soooo many talented kids that don't even trial for CCUtd because of their shocking reputation. If we had a decent rep club that was run correctly, the talent may come back to the coast and we would be a very strong force. I hope the whole thing falls apart and needs to be started again from scratch with all new officials at the helm.

In the penultimate Round (21) of the NSWPL they lost 0-2 to Manly United.
The team: 20. Matthew Trott (gk), 2. Josh Mitchell, 4. Keegan Wolfenden, 7. Scott Thomas, 9. Shane Knight, 10. Peter Haynes, 16. Mitchell Prentice, 17. Joel Thiessen (23. Bill Darwich +58'), 19. Troy Halpin, 22. Ben Hughes, 18. Darren Cooper Subs not used: 12. Joe Schirripa, 32. Michael Lloyd-Green, 30. Matthew Mitchell, 21 Scott Carter (rgk)
They played well, and it could have been 2-2 or even a win, but for opening themselves up when behind, trying to get one back, and MOM Manly's goalkeeper Brad Swancott.
In the last round, which is at Pluim Park on Saturday night, they play Blue Devils from Canberra. Blue Devils need one point to be assurred of a finals spot, and Coast need three to be safe from relegation. A draw or loss and they have to hope Parramatta don't win.
Why don't some of the Marinators get along and support them?
PS. Well done to the CCUFC U18's in supporting the Mariners on Sat night!

Well despite the loss, Central Coast United have survived relegation thanks to Parramatta losing. From what I have heard the Mariners and CCUFC are going to be more closely linked next season, soi all sounds promising

Every year they are in financial trouble
I can please all in saying that the local talent (falz brewer monie? preznoski froggy?) will return to the club as long as some of the egos depart ie MR Halpin Mr Pezzano and the current board sort thier shit out (for another season )
How many years can a club operate at a loss and the people in charge continue kicking us as a comunity any a sporting team down the drain
