Central coast united under 18's remained in equal 3rd spot after a scrappy 3-2 win over scofields scorpions. United weren't at their best but went a goal up through midfielder alex burrel, mid way through the first half. The Coast went two goals up through captain Mitch Irwin, when he volleyed the ball home from 10 yards out, after it fell nicely for him of Burrels' chest. The Scorpions pegged a goal back after the coast failed to clear the ball. Coast were all but ensured the win after a fine individual effort from striker Jamie Lobb. Scofields grab a goal in the final minutes through a good finish. Later in the sheds coach Dick Kocass, was pleased with the perfomances by Left back Liam Sheridan and sweaper Irwin. The Coast who were with out leading scorer Scott Imberger, will welcome him back this week against Northern Tigers at Parksland oval.

The team was put through a tough session at oasis gym Wyong last night. Coach Koccas was pleased with the session but is concerned about the fitness of midfielder Alex Burrel. Burrel hurt his knee in the game against Scofields on the weekend. Burrell is confident he'll be alright for the weekend and will train tomorrow night. First choice keeper Lee McParland has a sore throat but will be fine for the weekend. The team will train at oasis tomorrow night with the persistant rain keeping them off Pluim park. United are hopefully they can sign Luke McWaide from the U20's. McWaide would add to the 14 man playing roster that Koccas has.

Would like to send a cheero to Jamie Lobb and Mitch Irwin of the CCUFC U/18s who trained well with the Central Coast Mariners Squad in the April school holidays. You boys were put through your paces and held your own,i felt. Your future looks good as well as soccer on the Central Coast
Well Done boys and good luck for this weekend

Is there a little jealousy from Marinator Mum? Been there done that for 5 years, not jealous at all, Actually it was PREMIER LEAGUE THEN, not super league. Well from what i have seen and heard from last years results the Central Coast probably should still be in the Premier league if it hadn't been for such a weak 16's side. Oh well, lets hope to see them promoted back in the Premier League next season! - and looking forward to seeing the results posted up after this w/e game. Good Luck boys

Oh well, lets hope to see them promoted back in the Premier League next season! - and looking forward to seeing the results posted up after this w/e game. Good Luck boys Well obviously you didnt hear the whole story otherwise you would know that as a whole the teams all performed badly and all bar 1 or 2 teams they faired lower than 10th place at the end. And if you heard about the results of last years 16s then you would know that they ended up that way because of the youth development officer and the lack of coaching from the 3rd coach appointed to the team half way through the season. Anyways their results were better than your current under 16s team, which i hear are being coached by the same coach as last years 16s and whos results are worse than last years. Oh and of course half of those under 16s are currently in your 18s side. As for Ian (Broges) the boys training with the mariners, that was a school holiday training camp wasnt it. which many kids attended. No selection process in there. As a club they are not likely to be promoted back to premier leauge next season as they are in fourth place. I think thats where the 18's will be once the other club catch up on their game. So you dont get promoted back to premier league from 4th place as a club, so lets hope the club gets its act together and all of your grades get some consistancy and win on a regular basis. Just keeping it real guys,. I believe that there are three players that were in the 16's team last yr that are in this years 18's team. that would mean according to marinatormum there is only 6 players in the team!! I think there is alot of exageration going on by marinator mum. I think correct facts should be told, not lies. The only decent players from last years 16's got in to the 18's this year!!!

Well Tracey, (marinator mum)
Maybe you should get you facts right, The boys who trained with the mariners were selected by the ccsa and was not a holiday camp.

Yet another good win this weekend lads. Like many others on the site I enjoy seeing the results of the junior teams as junior soccer is the base for the future on the coast. Thats 6 unbeaten games in a row now, keep the winning streak going. Just remember lads that you are in the second top league in the state and are doing extremely well. Keep up the good effort and hopefully you can finish up the top of the table. Dont let people like marinatormum get you down what would she know about the great game anyway. cheers lads, hope for 3 more points this weekend

I think you will find that the best of last years 16s left the club and went on to bigger and better clubs. FYI, i think you will find these players weren't selected after they participated in the trials.

Central Coast united moved into equal second spot on the table after a gutsy 3-2 win over Southern Branch. United went one goal up through Scott Imberger when he finish one on one with the keeper after a lovely through ball from Nathen Young. United were soon two goal up when Imberger converted from the penalty spot. Southern got on the board after a the lineswomen clearly missed an off side. United went into the break leading 2-1, with several missed chances. Early in the second half, Southern were awarded a dubious penalty and converted to make it 2-2. United were reduced to 10 men when right back Mark Brogan was sent from the field for his second yellow card. This made united lift, and they went a goal up when Imberger completed his hat trick. The boys held on well in the last 20 minutes to grab all 3 points. United will head to Penrith to take on the leaders who are yet to loose a game, but the boys are hopeful they can win after Penrith were lucky to beat them in the first round.

To all interested in football on the Central Coast,
I started this topic to inform those interested in football on the Central Coast at youth level, about how the under 18's are going because i'm a keen follower of youth football, as it's the grass roots for the future of the game. I have been very disapointed that this forum has been used by some with sour grapes to vent their anger towards Central Coast United. Thanks to all who have shown positive interest in the 18's.
