It is beyond me why ccfa does not change their pre seasonal trial games especially when no grounds are available to train on. My kids team will be training in our paddock ('cause it's big enough) prior to trial games to ensure they are ready for the season. Don't know that we'll get asked to prepare the mariners pitch! However, the association may have changed names but it still the same meaning - couldn't get organised with 12 months to prepare. Would like to know why CCFA can't change trial games until grounds are available to clubs for training. CCSA to CCFA hasn't improved their organising, especially for junior football.

CCF (no a) does not determine whether or not the fields are used. That is the authority of both Wyong and Gosford Councils who have, due to the wear and tear done on the fields each year, determined that the fields are not to be used until April. Postponing the trials would mean that the season would start later and therefore be shorter. There are only 3 parks on the coast not run by council and you'll find that CCF has booked them solid with trial games for the clubs who have submitted requests.
My own team has nowhere to practice and we are WPL so hate to tell you this, write a letter to council about sporting allocations according to code. I
t is not due to a lack of preparation but due to the local councils attempting to ensure our fields last through the season...
Cheers!

Hate to say it but the grounds on the Coast are 1. mostly very poor, and 2. there aren't anywhere near enough of them. Have a look sometime at the grounds in Wollongong and Shellharbour - best in the state. Get lobbying your councils!

I agree that most of the grounds here on the coast are very poor, espically half way through the season, just look at ground like Frost Reserve and Duffys Oval those grounds are nothing but dust halfway through the season. When ever my club has trail matches they are always on at Schools.

Gosford City Council has no trouble accomodating cricket and Rugby League with grounds. They have historically displayed extreme bias against our game. Let's face it, they are dinosaurs living in the dark ages.

It is ironic when Ourimbah tried to make moves to get some space on Sohier Park (Rugby League) we wetre told to piss off even though it is totallu underused. Even though this is in the Wyong Shire I might run for Gosford Council becuase I live at Tascott. Who would vote for me?

the old norah head hockey oval is a brilliant surface to train on, well it was a year ago, it might not be now.

the old norah head hockey oval is a brilliant surface to train on, well it was a year ago, it might not be now. Great ground for training. Bingley (SydFC), Boog's, Trotti and the mercurial Froggy trained there last pre-season for CCUFC NSW Mens Premier League Team. Coach Grant Lee, would run the squad from the beach up to the hockey field where they'd do some ball work, run them back for some knee-high water work on the beach. Flog them to death in the sand dunes and then the gym in the Surf Club. Became the 'Boot Camp of Hell' for 3 week-ends. Should be utillissed by one of the local 1st grade teams if they're fair dinkum about a tilt at the title. Toukley would benefit with it being on their doorstep, but so too is their sponsor, "The Beachie! (Beachcomber Hotel)which is closer.
