that one person is employed to represent the coast both administratively and politically despite the wonders of the net this cannot be done overseas as relationships are built and maintained face to face Perhaps the kiddies might have somewhere to train if an official of your club Mick, hadn't pissed off the Wyong Mayor at the CCSA presentation with her comments. So much so that he subsequently openly stated that he would never do another favour for your club again. And now what happens - the council changes their rules about pre-season training. It may look good as a rant, but you are way out of touch with the reality of the situation with the GM. I would think that as someone who has some experience in the media, (and does a very good job as well I should add), you would have researched your facts a bit more thoroughly first. The Wyong Mayor did sweet FA for our Club...he is a bludging dickhead!

You talk about "induction night". The last "induction night" I attended with Mr Keech turned out to be nothing but a night of deception!
Stood on stage at Mingara 2005 for the induction of kids that were going to NSW Branch Titles as representatives of the then CCSA, had his little laptop put on a 'power-point presentation' on a large screen of how he was going to take football on the coast to the next level.
Gentlemen from Bayer announced scholarship program and then Mr Keech proclaims that the CCSA was having a 'Major Fundraiser' for the players going to Branch Titles.
Touted how Major Prizes had been 'secured' from various local businesses and that every player would receive raffle-tickets to sell, BUT WAIT! every dollar that a kiddie got for selling a ticket he would 'keep' to help cover the cost of $400 odd dollars to get each player to the State Titles.
It's 2006 and I'm still waiting to receive my book of 200 tickets to sell at $2 a ticket, to recoup the cost of sending my kid to the Branch Titles! A lot of families committed to send their children to these Titles BASED on this happening! As a result they were all left with their hands in their pockets, some with a serious bad taste in their mouth after their first taste of representative soccer and vowed never to be involved again and would keep their kids at the local clubs.
Keech is full of shit! and I'd love to hear his excuse for this Major Fundraiser not happening at all, still hasn't had the decency to offer an explanation. Maybe it was SoccerNSW's fault, the parents, the people who used to run CCUFC and on and on and on!

Haven't got my tickets either. I can handle the deal falling through, would be nice if he passed the info on though.

For those kids aspiring to play football at the highest level (especially boys) it seems that a combination of factors has worked against the Coast with regards to the demise of premier standard youth football, missing out on the new new Premier league (despite the coast being identified as a key regional location) and the set up of the new A league which apparently under the Crawford report was never given the brief to work on youth development. My kids have benefitted from playing for l;ocal clubs, the Coasties, representive levels, programs from the CCSA/SNSW, and more recently from the efforts of the mariner's coaches and players who have done a tremendous job at grass roots level in the community. I can understand some of the frustrations expressed but if there was a clear pathway for kids to develop their skills beyond club level maybe that would help strengthen youth development on the coast and stop many kids travelling to play in Sydney? I don't have the answers but I always like to see local footballers like Damien Brown playing for the Mariner's. What could be done to ensure more kids from the Coast make it to that level?
