Ssshhh.....I was keeping the own goal a secret. Meanwhile, it does increase our goal tally to 3, disproving Gosford's theory that we wouldn't score all season!! hey i never said you girls wouldn't score any goals. anyways gosford WAA4s went down 1-0 to avoca. It wasn't your team... It was another gosford womens team unware that Kariong supporters were listening. Sorry for the confusion Nutmeg, you've been very supportive and we appreciate it

I watched a number of games over the weekend.
One was an U11 Metro league Lighting v Granville. the referee was a young looking 14 year old. He might have missed a few fouls but every other call he made was correct from my point of view (having allegiance to neither team). His composure was good and he looked fit. Nonetheless he received shit from both sides, shouts from the Lightning coach and shouts from both sets of parents (including allegations of CHEATING from a Granville parent). While only the cheating call was offensive, everything else seemed designed to influence and overbear on this referee. I trust that the words the ground official also had with him at half time were not along those lines!
This was a grade that is supposed to be developmental for players and referees.
So where does it end. Clearly it ends in being called a Fat f***er (SEE PREVIOUS POSTS ABOVE) by someone who may well be a top class player (!) but I doubt is a top class referee.

That's dissapointing, I had the Under 11 coach at the game I refereed on Saturday (it was an 11As game so he was looking at some players) and he struck me as a nice guy, just goes to show what happens when it's your team. I agree that's very dissapointing, they're kids, you expect that crap in seniors but Under 11s?

It is always disappointing when this sort of behaviour takes place, particularly at this age. Parents need to remember that the most important thing at this age especially is the enjoyment of the players, followed by their development. Parents need to set an example for their children, not act like children themselves. Such behaviour tends to be pretty disgraceful when parents totally forget their responsibilities for the 50-60min that match goes for.
It's no secret that it's the parents on the sideline that cause all the problems in youth football - and the teams with the worst behaved parents have the worst behaved players!
