A tough call, hard for me to decide, it's between Sydney, Melbnourne and Newcastle.
Who does everyone else say?

On paper Sydney probably but with Newcastle having the likes of Zelic, Carle, Mil, and North they look pretty good, however the best team on paper doesn't always do well!

On paper Melbourne is the best side in the league:
Best 11
- Michael Theoklitos - Kevin Muscat - Geoffery Claeys - Mark Byrnes - Adrian Leijer - - Steve Pantelidis - Kristian Sarkies - Richard Kitzbichler - Andy Vlahos - Archie Thompson - Danny Allsopp

What to explain how Sydney are miles ahead in the sense that any position on the field you point to sydney are far and away better add a coach who is streaks ahead of melbourne's and stability off the park sydney is miles ahead

Gee if Sydney are miles ahead of Melbourne they are worlds ahead of your lot eh sunshine? Who got knocked out by Adelaide, and who beat Adelaide 4-0. Who has now failed to beat Adelaide 3 times, scoring nil goals in the process? Who got to the CWC final? Ho, hum!

Syd by far best overall quality in the squad, not even considering the coach!
Newcastle on paper are next in line...but I still question depth in midfield and up front...
Victory squad is a squad of potential that is as yet unfulfilled...I agree many of those players have the goods, but need a few seasons to actually learn their trade still...

I have to say Sydney, but pieces of paper don't win games, given the Mariners are supposedly 8th best on paper and beat Newcastle United (supposedly the best on paper for that tournament), smashed Adelaide United and only let one in against Sydney.
It's irrelevant who looks best on paper because they always overlook the Mariners and that's what we want.

You people are reading far too much into the pre-season tournament

And into every game Melbourne Victory (hey oxymoron) have played? You can't deny the Mariners have been getting results and Melbourne haven't

And into every game Melbourne Victory (hey oxymoron) have played? You can't deny the Mariners have been getting results and Melbourne haven't Because they were 1 off games which would have been nice to win but the clubs didn't rate too highly. Melbourne for example was without the better 1/2 of the squad and had to play a host of 16 year olds. If you really thinkk your club is the 2nd best team based on that your in for a shock. Melbourne have only layed 2 games vs A-League sides and been the better team with a vastly under strength squad each time and poor conditions in the wnd game. Cannot read much into that.

We'll see come the A-League, Melbourne must be the best team in the league, just ask you!
Just looking for a fight aren't you
EDIT: Apologies, you didn't ask this one.

We can see that Sydney are the best team on paper so you can't really accuse of us of a bias (given they're one of our derby teams) and we'll say Newcastle Uknighted is probably next, Melbourne is up there but they haven't proven it. Any team is a chance in this league.
