I read the Jets forum after the game.
I was pleased to see some condemnation of the can throwing etc. So there must be a few sensible heads amongst the squadron...(?) Who can forget being pelted with cans and piss from above in previous seasons at EAS?
I was also interested to see there was a total absence of discussion about the two phantom red cards that should have been...namely A Griffiths and Durante. They obviously don't take their gold coloured specs off, even after the game...

Timmy Get your mob sorted mate, before we all have security problems hanging over our heads. If they are in your bay, their your problem - don't duck the issue.FIX IT. There is a major problem with the squadron area at the moment. Alot of the 'hardcore' fans (i mean hardcore as in the ones that go to away trips etc... not the one well 'ard ones) are moving from Bay 2. Reason we are getting alot of youngsters (teenager, teeny boppers, emos) getting into Bay 2, stuffing it up for the rest of us. I for one do not sit at Bay 2 anymore, i have attempted in the past to presuade people to sit elsewhere if they are not going to join in and not act like d!cks. Unfortunately that hasnt worked. I'm the one that would get in trouble for trying to move them on I'm at a loss to what to do from here, i would appreciate ideas (sensible ones) from other supporter groups. We understand this is ruining the game for the a-league as well as ourselves. Could i get the name, email of any people "Higher up" in the Marinators. Thanks, Dane (Newieutd) G’day mate – the main thing we do is that when someone’s doing something stupid, they get pulled up straight away. There’s the Monday morning keyboard-complainers as well, but the main thing is that when someone is seen in the Bay doing something completely idiotic they’re pulled up. Prime example – derby match at home, several half-full bottles came across the 2 bays in between us at half time, and one younger fella down the front pegged one of the half-full coke bottles back. There were several of us that immediately just jumped on it and none-too-politely reminded people that throwing shit is f***ing stupid, and the throwing stopped. This simple ‘jump on the problem in the moment’ approach means you don’t get to the level of flares or things being thrown at the players or whatever. We keep that out, because it’s got no place. Hurling abuse is one thing, cans is another…

timmyv, were you the same jets fan who knew the people that burned a scarf away to us, yet would not turn them in? And now you claim your trying to sort this problem out to. Are you sure your not trying to hide the identity of the people who threw bottles and cans this time?

The question is are our players going to be facing the same thing in a couple of weeks?? This sort of behaviour should not be tolerated at all.... Its all well and good to appologise after the fact, but unless steps are being taken to prevent this, it will continue to happen.

Of course they will, and odds are we will too. That stadium is an absolute bitch to run security at, 'cause it's so open and so many access points to everywhere....... Especially when we win too.

Identify the ringleaders and make an example of them... as soon as you see something wrong, either try and put a stop to it, or call in security.... police from within..

I really worry that there's so many dickheads now that they've let it go too far and they can't handle doing that as the dickheads outnumber those who want to stop this rubbish, prove me wrong, please Newcastle.

Maybe we are asking/expecting too much of Timmy. I presume he is doing the best he knows & can in the circumstances, given that he is a teenager (still?) trying to control other teenagers. I'm young enough to remember (only just) the peer pressure to toe the line & be one of the lads. The shit you can cop from young guys if you attempt to be different & do the right thing. Soft ****, club lacky, part of the prawn sandwich brigade, dobber & dog are a a few names I've seen him called when he tries to do what he thinks right for the squadron.
I think he was thrown into the job after the first two older leaders quit ? Might be time for you to get some help from a few more experienced guys Timmy. When you get older (most) you don't give a damn what people think.

When you get older (most) you don't give a damn what people think. Timmy is doing his best, i assure you of this. He is young and relatively inexperienced in the leadership area. But his heart is very much in the right place. This incident (i hope) will change some peoples opinions and maybe help out the whole by clipping the d!cks behind the ears when they act poorly. While most are still against the whole "dobbing" etc. many agree that we should police ourselves and stop it while its happening and not after the game. As you will see on our forums there is a general push for change, not to the extreme as light beer. But more of a stand against poor behaviour.

Todays Newy Herald has a write up about the incident and the jets are facing possible sanctions over the incident. The FFA are waiting for the club to do an internal investigation into what happend, what can be done to stop it happening again and to try and identify the culprits. Tim has come out as part of the article and condemed the behaviour as wrong which is to be applauded although I don't know how much support he'll have in identifying the culprits and passing their names on to the jets.
As to how to improve as Dibo said you need to jump on the problem as soon as it is seen and if it doesn't stop then it's a case of not being afraid to call in security to deal with the trouble makers. If they can see that doing this sort of thing will get them booted by the group then hopefully a level of acceptable behaviour will be reached where by you will only have 1 or 2 people even considering causing trouble and they are easily dealt with because they are in such a small minority.
Sort term fix, 2 or 3 rows of the right people down the front of the bay who won't do this sort of thing. Security keeping an eye on Bay 2 with a mandate to boot anyone that throws anything and a couple of members people watching to draw attention to the louts that cause trouble
Best of luck Dane and Tim, I think you lads will need it.

I see on your forum you guys have let the "anyone that dobs is a dog" dickheads win again. They need to be banned from the squadron on that stance alone.
While I know it's not easy, things won't change long term until everyone grows up.
Sorry mate, but they run the squadron, not Timmy or anyone else, & its obvious to anyone that can read.

I wasnt involved in the scarf burning as wasnt able to see the video before it was taken down. We work with the Jets on it and some people were banned from Jets games because of it from what i know. The can throwing is a different issue all together. We are trying to stamp issues like this out of or group. While it wont be easy we will do our best. Is all about working with the club and police to move forward to bigger and better things.

The person u are reffering to about the prawn sandwhich bridage dobber& dog are sadly dircted to past leader of the Squadron who did a great job. I have only been elected as President for about 3 weeks if that. BUT, I have been around since day one and have alot of respect form the lads. The thing is that the lads casusing the trouble arent on our forum and are mostly fairweather fans. We have a group of Leaders in the Squadron but thing is that people wont listen to us. I dont believe that my unexperience comes into it. Its about working with the lads in our group and letting them know whats happening. etc
