And I'd just like to add that we need to coordinate with each other (the various supporter's groups) to provide decent vocal & visual support behind the goals.

F*ck. Yes.
I cannot _wait_ for these. An excellent chance to get the community involved as well...... sort of a "hey everyone, they're not the Socceroo's yet, but they will be!!!" kind of thing.

The really good news is that the game against Iraq and the one Newcastle on (Sep 8) are both on weekends when all three NSW teams are on the road. Which will boost the numbers.

As far as I'm concerned (and I assume many of you know that I'm a Cove member and a passionate supporter of our national teams, part-time agitator towards the GGA, and attempting to change the way Home Ends work for our national teams) - this is your show to run. You tell me what you want from us, how you want to coordinate seating/ticketing, where you want banners/flags placed, whether you want a "capo" at the back/front/middle/nowhere. I'll give you guys my full support and bring lots of people, dedicated to the cause.
Now- I'm assuming we should be able to get in early for tickets and not have any problems packing out the usual Marinators Bay/s without too many dramas.
If it arrives back from Asia in time (it's on a ship somewhere between Vietnam and Sydney), I'd like to bring out a huge parachute banner, 15m x 10m, "Aussie Home End" with a boxing kangaroo with it's foot on a football underneath the writing.
Any other tifo ideas?

as ben said this is our opportunity to show the gga army how a home end works
it should be a collaboration of all the supporter groups
serious, is this a project you want to undertake?
basically it would mean contacting all the supporter groups and getting an email conversation happening about logistics
from there coordinating the bay(s) and tifos

I'd love to. I reckon it would be great to bring in Dibo and Tiger (if they're willing) as they are staunch supporters of match day activities in the bays and beyond...... and seeing as we're already doing the Mariners match-day subcommittee thing, it would make some sense.
I'd also have no qualms about co-ordinating with the Sydney lads (BenW especially) about anything they might want to bring to the show - I'm an avid believer in what Ben is trying to do with the 'Home End' petition. Having said that, the banner from Vietnam (saw it numerous times on the box during the quarter final, it's impressive) would be excellent.
As for other Tifo ideas....... I'm thinking balloons, co-ordinated colored cards - possibly some standards?? Open to all ideas obviously.

James, very happy to help. I reckon it would be good for you to grab this with both hands, given the amount of Socceroos games you have been to. I certainly have limited experience in the workings of the home end, and therefore couldn't say what will work best.
I will find out what I can about ticketing to these games.

On November 17 (Olyroos vs Iraq), us Sydney folks would need a venue to watch Wellington vs Sydney, which kicks off 2 hours before Olyroos match (if I've done my sums correctly).
Kendall, I assume?

this is going to be great! i hope the aussie home end support is huge, this would send the Coast into a state of awe.

This is the most exciting news i've heard since probably PT joining and the mariners becoming rich. Can't wait for these games.
I'd love to see it work as a promotion for the Marinators and the code here on the coast... should happen if the crowd is impressive in its size, enthusiasm and organisation, with positive publicity in the lead-up.

So the chance of finding any in Bay 16 is about 1 in a mill. Not enough reason for leaving Bay 16 Bear! We need you there. Surround yourself with Runtless-ones and you'll be fine.

I agree - everyone there should be sporting green & gold. No point showing support for a team who isn't even playing. I expect much of the crowd will be football fans, who will be prepared to travel a certain distance. But i'm hopeful that some not-yet-football-fans who live on the coast may be attracted by the idea of an international being played in gosford (and one that actually involves Australia). If the atmosphere's good enough they could get hooked and converted to the code. So you're right, it is a promotion of the code, not directly the marinators or mariners. However, an indirect result could be more interest in football on the coast.

Just jumped onto the Newcastle forum, let them know what's going on, and any idea's for both up there and down here, hit me with them and we'll go from there.
BenW - just to confirm, if your banner does in fact make it back in time, I'd love to see it up here....... it's more than good enough to be a centrepiece of sorts.
