Be very interesting especially if they could run it with A-League matches.
Who pays is the big question maybe uncle Frank can get a bit more from the pollies.
But help with crowds and overall appeal, play the girls match before the guys match.
Only trouble when we play Scumcastle have to play the mans match first as the mans team (ifs that what we call them) would be inferior to the womens team.

Would be surprised to see a womaens league and youth league both launched in the next 2 years. Though maybe the FFA are working harder than i thought. The A-league is not costing nearly as much so they might have the cash. But how many teams? From where? I would presume if 8, then from the a-league regions. But then what when/if the a-league expands?
I would find it surprising an 8 team womens league starting next season. But who knows?
Would it be televised? Would not be covered in the current fox agreement.
Wait and see i guess.

I'd prefer to see a youth league first before seeing a womens league. And i think that's what the FFA would be working towards instead at the momment. I'd like to see both, but maybe over the next 5 years or so

a woman's league would definitely attract more dollars from fox
wonder how much fox would put it and if this money would make the comp viable

How financially viable would a women's comp be (although on that note, how financially viable would a youth comp be?)? Spectator interest would be the tough one. Just look at the numbers we got to the Matildas games at Gosford a while back, when they were playing before the Mariners for an example of that. Also, would women's teams be limited to existing clubs, or would it be completely independant of the HAL? I personally think a youth comp is needed more than a women's comp. This is the first I've heard about there being a call for a national women's comp...

Excellent ... I used to love writing on the WSL. Even the games at Parklea in 39C mid summer. Qld Sting were very exciting, and Western Waves (like a young Lisa De Vanna) played a half round (two trips east - no money) spirit.webcity.com.au/AFN/Women/WNSL04.htmI too would like to see a HAL Reserves/Youth competition, but this would indeed give Fox a different demographic if marketed right.

Come on fellas Nothing like football forum for jumping to conclusions. Little sis isn't going to steal big bro's slice of the cake. This is about a women's league as a seperate issue, being in addition to the youth league not at it's expense. We all know that the FFA has put the introduction of a youth league on the ASAP list & that hasn't changed.

You needed some decent action shots though mate Ah yes indeed ... doesn't do Cheryl Salisbury justice ... and the backdrop of the cars at Broadmeadow Magic's ground ... memories.

But the marketing of a womens league would come down to sex appeal probably more than football i reckon.

Be carefull a female forum member doesn't whack you.
To be honest I think they will & should avoid it. Threats them like joke athletes & they don't need promoting as such. As kevrenor will tell you, they are no joke athletes.
