Football Federation Australia (FFA) Chief Executive Officer Ben Buckley has announced that the Hyundai A-League 2008 Finals Series has been rescheduled to accommodate the Qantas Socceroos FIFA World Cup qualification match on Wednesday 6 February 2007.
"The Hyundai A-League draw was finalised in April, but in July we were advised by the Asian Football Confederation that our first qualification match towards the 2010 FIFA World Cup would be held on the 6th of February, right in the middle of the finals series," said Buckley.
"Following consultation between our High Performance Unit, Hyundai A-League Clubs and Fox Sports (Host Broadcaster), it was agreed that in the best interests of protecting the integrity of the Hyundai A-League Finals Series and maximising the preparation of the Qantas Socceroos that the match schedule be altered.
"This decision was made to provide the opportunity for the clubs and the national team to perform at their best with minimal interruption to their respective campaigns," concluded Buckley.
Under the original schedule the second legs of the Hyundai A-League 2008 Semi Finals was to be played on 1st and 3rd of February but they have now been changed to 8th and 10th of February.
The Hyundai A-League 2008 Preliminary Final will now be played a week later on 17th February with the Hyundai A-League 2008 Grand Final now scheduled for Sunday 24 February.
FFA would like to thank Fox Sports and all the Hyundai A-League venues for their assistance in accommodating this change in schedule.

That sucks! Pushed the matches right onto the Iron Maiden concerts. I am really hoping that is the away leg. And not crucial on february 10.
Better still if we play february 8. Would make for a killer weekend!

It's actually good news for the Mariners.
If they weren't changed we would have been potentially without Heff, Danny and Mrdja on Socceroo duty, if they recieved a call up.
