I agree with Mike Cockerill, it is the worst name I have ever heard of in Football. It is such a US sporting franchise name it is sickening and has no place in Football. Although, I must say it is only marginally worse than Queensland Roar. That name has got to embarrass even their most hardcore supporters.

I know it can't/won't happen but I'd love to see Townsville replace WP. As far as I am concerned no NZ team has any place in the Australian HAL. I think it's a disgrace that a NZ club is there preventing young and upcoming Australian boys a chance to develop their game.

As I said, WP won't get the flick, but I think it's wrong and I'll never agree with it.

I like thunder, and agree wholeheartedly with Micks post. This aint europe, no matter how much we want it to be. Clubs have to be grown, with kids and families. They dont give a rats about FC, athletic, etc.

Also i think Athelitic is a horrible name for the record. Also think wanderers is awful, city marginally, marginally better.

FC i do like though

Add me to this list.. "traditional" British club names don't float my boat...

But as for "FC"? Football Club? Every team is "FC"... it was just a total cop-out by the arrogant Sydney not to come up with a name.
