Football is cruel.
I just stayed up half the night to watch Chelsea turn on the style against Wigan, but was pleasantly surprised to find myself watching very even yet very open match. As the match went on Wigan totally out-enthused and subsequently outplayed the champions and had the best 3 or 4 chances of the game, included a header that hit the bar. Their players had all run their legs off. The headlines were written. The fans and the players would get a shocking but much deserved point or three. Then, after 94 minutes, with 40 seconds left til full time, Crespo turns at 25 yards and kicks the ball into the top corner.
Football is cruel.

Based on that Wigan and West Ham could be OK .. NUFC were unlucky I thought, goals in the last 10 mins, one a penalty and I have no idea how the second got between Shay Given and the post .. plus with only 10 men.

Yeah we can only wonder what might have been if JJ wasn't sent off. Was still a good match, Scott Parker looks like he wants to play twice as hard this year to make up for last year.

Don't know if any of you know but Scott Parker has a nickname as the McDonalds kid in the UK. He was in a Maccas ad when he was about 10 juggling a ball and eating Maccas!

i voted for West Ham to stay up based purely on their result on the weekend but looking at their strikeforce i might have to reassess. If they have to rely on Sheringham as their main striker they will struggle. Obviously he is a class player but in the twilight of his career. I can't see Harewood (i think thats the right name) scoring too many and that will put pressure on the midfield to help out. Considering the way they gained promotion i suppose they would be favourites for the drop but it would be very sad to see
