Owen only went there coz nobody else wanted him and Liverpool refused to match the price that Newcastle would pay! Still mid-table for me even with Owen!

We've just signed Nobby Solano, who, I think, will be able to supply some top balls to Owen and Shearer upfront, the sort of supply that's been absent for a couple of seasons. Milner on season loan to Villa as part of the deal.

Good move for the toon for sure. He is a class player. As Fish suggested he was caught between a rock and a hard place.Incredible really for a player of his calibre. Saying he was only willing to go there for a season on loan was a stupid comment at the time though. I've got mixed feeling's. Wouldve been good to have him back but you cant pay $17m for a striker you sold for $8 a year ago!!. Real Madrid are the true winner's in all of this - 100% profit for a player they werent gonna play. Plus his morale would soon be shot seeing Stevie and Carra waving those CL winners meadals in his face He has a clause in his contract which says he can move on in 12months time for $12m (this was initially denied). So it could be the most expensive loan-signing ever at a cool $5m. But the Geordies are a passionate bunch and he will be a hero there so he might stay, you never know. Shearer talking him round certainly saved Souness from the sack! Didnt realise they got Solano. Another good buy.

20k people in the stadium to welcome Owen - that's Central Coast stadium packed - awesome stuff from the geordies! Yeah I was gonna say, 20k just to welcome him to Tyneside, they are ridiculously passionate over there. However if we signed, say, Harry Kewell, dare I say there would be at least 5k at Gosford to welcome him if it didnt cost anything? 20k fans there to see a bloke that openly said in his press conference that he didnt really want to go to newcastle and was forced there. they are desperate!
