Vladivostok striker gets drugs ban
FC Luch-Energia Vladivostok striker Aleksandr Tikhonovetski has been fined €900 and suspended for eight months after failing a drugs test.
The control and disciplinary committee of the Football Union of Russia (RFS) has handed out the punishment for "use of a prohibited substance" after the 27-year-old tested positive for marijuana after a Russian Premier-Liga game.
He admitted his guilt and will now miss the remainder of the 2006 domestic season and approximately half of the 2007 campaign. There is no full-scale drug testing programme in Russian football with samples tending to be taken only at big matches, but the RFS is planning to introduce tougher measures.
I womder whether it was the genie who took the test.

The old man did some consulting work in Russia about 10 years ago (in winter) to judge by his comments I would be stoned a lot if I live there too.
BTW, can we have Guus back now please?
