I saw this on football365.com last night - I got a bit sad I must admit.
A true professional in every sense of the word..... was also one of the few whom I never heard whinge about "recapturing form" after an injury layoff - I don't remember a time when he didn't score on his return.
"You are my Solskjaer, my Ole Solsjkaer".

he was a great servent to the club and forever will forever be remembered for that goal in 1999, but besides that he has done everything for the club and its a real shame that he has had so many injuries cause he could have been an even better player if it wasnt for those injuries

So it seems we now have a vacant spot on the roster for a striker........ For one D. Berbatov perhaps??

United is life, the rest is mere detail. i dunno how you say that. for me, CCM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anything else. they're *my* club. i go and see them every other week. i sing them songs and they hear me. i stand in the rain, shade myself from the sun and shiver in the wind that they play in. i like to watch liverpool on the telly, but the mariners are *my* club.

Typical Scouse response..... I _nearly_ agree with you. For you consideration: 1999 FA Cup tie against Liverpool. 1-1, 2 minutes into injury time. Ole pops up in the box, and out of nowhere - bam. Score. Scousers lose 2-1 at the death, and the Stretford End descends into chaos. Unbeatable.

Typical Scouser's response..... that's the thing - i'm not scouse, i'm a coastie. i've never been to liverpool, i've never seen them play live. i can barely do a scouse accent to take the piss, besides some ringo starr impersonations and saying 'leever-peeel' for liverpool. i was born and bred here. the club's got a great history and the fans are amazing and i like to see them win, but i don't actually *feel* anything for them. they're just a team i like. i feel more for the dragons in the nrl and the swans in the afl, if i'm completely honest, because i see them play and know who they are. i've celebrated a premiership on the turf of the scg and... well... been depressed about 6 grand final losses in my lifetime on the other lot's account. but the mariners are a bigger deal than that for me, and far far bigger than liverpool.

Fair enough. I just remember my grandfather regaling me with stories of Busby's Babes, and giving me my first ever football scarf when I was 6 - listening to highlights on the radio in Tamworth (and if we were lucky, we could twist the antenna to get live calls on his shortwave). I remember the thrill of watching them play live on the televisual box when I was London visting relatives all those years ago, and that unbeatable feeling I got when I found out they were match of the week on the SBS Saturday night broadcast. I'm also a fully paid up member, blah blah etc. Even the other night, I couldn't help but jump around when we got out of jail against the Yids (thankyou Mr. Nani). The thrill of seeing them play (live, on TV, whatever) will never die for me. Still, I was just taking the piss Dibo. P.S. I quite like the Mariners as well, they do it for me. Man U and the Mariners (aside from the Socceroos) are the only two sporting teams in the world that can truly "fire me up". Game day for both of these clubs is a feeling that for me, can't be beaten. ;D

I think Keensy is right, there is no chance Berbatov will go to Manure. Especially with the rumour that Defoe may be leaving. If You want a replacement for Ole, you have one, Carlos Tevez (even though he is shite)

You are my Solskjaer, My Ole Solskjaer, You make me happy, When skies are grey, And Alan Shearer, Was dearer, So Please don't take, My Solskjaer,
Will always be remembered in footballing folklore for THAT goal against Bayern but i'll remember him for his 4 goals in 10 minutes coming off the bench against Notts Forest in 1999.
Tevez is a replacement for the shite that is Saha and tevez isn't exactly a "Super Sub" that Ole was.
On the Aussie club vs English club, i tend to agree with that the Mariners take priority for me. If you were born and raised in England then emmigrated to australia and lived here for the last 10 years thats a different story because you have lived in the heartland of these clubs but for most of us the Mariners is our heartland. You get alot more involved in your club when you can rock up on a Sunday at 5pm to support it than watching it on a 80cm TV at 2 in the morning.

Nothing wrong with 80cm TV's...... Mariners and Man U are equal for me, but of course the Mariners win out ever so slightly because they're just down the road. The local team. The lads. Y'know?? ;D

I have been supporting Manchester United since 1974. I worship the club, and going to Old Trafford is one of my two "must-visit" destinations (the other being Inside Passage). I saw them play at Stadium Australia, it was the highlight of the 1990's for me.
I do not back away from my quote, BUT, I truly love our Mariners. It is an honour to be a fan from Day 1, and my passion for our club and team has no bounds.
I will state that when we play Manchester United in the World Club Final, I shall be wearing Yellow & Blue.
I understand the points made above. But you must understand, Manchester United is not any old English club; my Red Devils are in my blood.

I understand where you are coming from Auburn. I feel the same way about Liverpool. Although I have never been I feel strangely connected to them but with the Mariners I don't feel connected, I AM connected if you get my meaning. As much as I hate Man U I feel very sad for Ole. He was a tremendous servant for the club. He never complained about being used as a backup when he would have started for most other teams and he always did the business when needed. I will always remember that Champions League final goal and while I was most certainly not jumping about with joy it was a remarkable result considering the balance of play. Good luck to Ole with whatever he does now.

it's been on the cards for years he never really recovered from his injury 4 years ago.
Great role model thou, some current players could certainly learn a few things from him.

its an end of an era of one of the greatest players to play for man utd IMO especially off the bench
gotta agree that united needs a new striker as if any one of rooney, tevez, anderson or saha get injured, manutd are in trouble.
also IF united and the mariners played each other one day i would defiantely go for the mariners BUT wouldnt be too dissapointed if they got smashed
