This is much easier to answer than the top 10 songs thread. Fave band of all time is Pearl Jam, no question. Then in no particular order or grouping: The Who, Metallica, Split Enz, Crowded House, The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Chris Isaak, Jack Johnson, Foo Fighters, Greenday, Blink 182, Grinspoon, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, Audioslave, Bloodhound Gang, Bruce Springsteen, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, R.E.M., The Screaming Jets, Stone Temple Pilots, U2, The Doors, Billy Joel, Guns N' Roses, Live, Collective Soul, The Eagles, Faith No More, Everclear, System Of A Down, Ben Harper.
Should be getting tiks for Foo Fighters in the next couple of weeks, and was looking forward to my 1st BDO next year, but the next lot of announcements better be a marked improvement on the last lot, otherwise i'll be waiting another year for that.

Before you completely stereotype me:
Bought within the last dozen or so CDs - Play - Slava & Leonard Grigoryan (great!)
Most esoteric music CD owned (also great) - Apocalyptica - The Music Of Metallica Played On Four Cellos
Biggest pleasantly surpris-(ingly good) gig this year (But do not read "best") - Guy Sebastian - Wyong Leagues

Think we've got crowd probs.
This line-up at The Palace, St Kilda for Melbourne's Pete Wells Benefit Concert on 9th Oct drew only 360 people:
Rose Tatto and Guests Paul Kelly Beasts of Bourbon Tim Rogers and The Temperance Union The Master's Apprentices Tex, Don and Charlie Ian Rilen & The Love Addicts Penny Ikinger and The Evolution Dave Hogan's Meltdown
(The Sydney show on Sept 7th at the Enmore (different line-up) sold out....and was brilliant)

I was listening to Steve Vai on my way to work!.. on iTunes also listen to Joe Satriani, Steve Morse, John McLaughlin and other electric guitar masters.... Yeah I'm into this kinda stuff too. Been watching a few G3 DVD's a lot lately, particularly G3 Live in Denver, with Satch, Vai and an old fat leather clad Malmstein going nuclear. And when it's 2am and I've had a gutful, I always find myself listening to and watching Van Halen. I still cannot let it go. Big VH fan. Joe Satriani is outrageous. From the old school of this genre I like Jethro Tull, Led Zep, Deep Purple, Mountain, Frank Zappa, Cream, Yardbirds, Derek and the Dominos, Clapton generally, Alan Holdsworth, Yes, the Who, Queen, StarFleet Project (Brian May & EVH), SRV, Neil Young, Pink Floyd. Err, Whitesnake and a plethora of big hair bands. Extreme. Sorry. Went through a Billy Idol stage, as well as Ratcat? Faith no more, Mr Bungle, Alice in Chains, Live, Beck, Pearl Jam, REM, Jeff Buckley, The Church, Greenday, Smashing Pumpkins, Black Crowes, Moby, Everlast, Stone Temple Pilots, err Elton John, U2, New Order, The Cult, Lenny Kravitz, Queens of the Stone Age, Ben Folds Five, Jack Johnson. Too many. Hunters & Collectors, Nick Cave, Paul Kelly, ACDC, The Angels, Hoodoo Gurus, Midnight Oil, Divinyls, Icehouse, Spy vs Spy, Screaming Jets, Aussie Crawl, Crowded House, Mondo Rock, INXS, The Radiators, Chisels, LRB, Powderfinger, Alex Lloyd, Grinspoon, Regurgitator, Silverchair, Frenzal Rhomb, Tommy/Phil Emanuel, Baby Animals. Thought Savage Garden were an OK Aussie duo too and I'm a tad embarrassed about that. Was an 80's child, badly. And love the Beatles. Have also still been known to whack on some Fleetwood Mac, ELO, Supertramp, The Eagles, plus a wide variety of one-hit-wonders. My missus is a mad Bon Jovi fan so I suppose I am too now, by proxy. Lately I'm going through a Rock Chick stage and have a major Jones for Gwen Stefani. Cannot explain it. Special mention must surely go to the Top Gun soundtrack, and Musical Youth. Also, pretty sure if I was 6 again I'd be a mad Wiggles fan.

well i'm generally into punk, ska and quite a bit of alternative stuff.
should i start listing:
Internationals: The ramones, the clash, the decendants, Blink 182, Greenday, Rancid, Orange, the horrorpops, rocket from the crypt, the dropkick murphys, Nofx, me first and the gimme gimmes(the worlds greastest cover band), linkin park, less than jake, QOTSA last album was good, probably more that i can't think of at the moment
Aussie: unpaid debt, steppin' razor, frenzal rhomb, the whitlams (were great until members started killing themselves now they are only good), 28 days, the porkers, area 7, the cat empire, after the fall, Nitocris, spiderbait and probably heaps more that i see at the annandale etc.
i think i've seen angela's dish once and they weren't too bad. vetna are a good young local band too.
going to greenday in december, probably the BDO for my birthday again apart from that not a lot of tickets bought but with summer coming up i'm sure i'll go to a few after i finish exams.

They go (parallel) under another name with a different singer. Saw them a Vans Warped a few years ago. It's just one short word. Remember what it is?

Pornograffiti - brilliant album It's like if you combined Queen, Van Halen and Jim Steinman type twisted lyrics Baby Animals....Lately I'm going through a Rock Chick stage Suze De Marchi was IMO the definitive rock chick. When she married Extreme's Nuno (sad as that was) what a pedigree the kids have got!

Pinky & Chit Chat - have written for the Whitlams - in fact part of No Aphrodisiac (the personals ad bit - you know 'tired teacher, 28...') was written by MGF and talking with Pinky when he is just plain old Real Name (I'm not going to tell you that) he really enjoys writing that stuff, Chunky Chunky Air Guitar was originally an MGF song.
As for The Whitlams killing themselves, I must say something controversial, I actually think this is the best line up the band has ever had, it's a stable lineup (only Tim in it has depression, thanks to his raging alcohol abuse) and they've made some great music. The two band members that commited suicide were never involved in any hits, except Andy was in No Aphro. (I wouldn't classify Hamburgers as a hit) And as much as I love Stevie Plunder and his songs, I don't think the band would ever have got the success they had with Stevie in the band as they never would have gone on to try the 'kitchen sink' stuff and add some rock into the band.
How could I forget Queen on that list.
And Ms Canada a Canadian Music favourites list without Barenaked Ladies?!
