Interested that they only pulled 18000 on the weekend. This is despite: - getting over 25000 in past seasons for similar fixtures - first game of the season - playing the bulldogs who are touted as premiership contenders - lots of big names in the bulldogs team - all the media hype with rugby league at the moment - no other major event happening in newcastle that day
I wonder how much the Jets have impacted on the Knights crowd?
The Knights did win in a thriller so I suppose the fair weather supporters of Newcastle will come back to the team in droves.

That was probaly my favourite game i've watched ever. Corwd dissapointing, but the game was brilliant. For the Knights to come back from a huge half-time deficit, without Johns or Buderus, against one of the competitions favourite's is unbelievable.

I'd say there must have been a sizable impact, which should the jets do OK, will only increase. I wonder what the average age of the knights crowd was, are the younger lot switching over? if the A-leauge can avoid the scandals that league has had of the late and Richard Noone can uncover and shame any pathetic attempts at hooliganism (perhaps he can go undercover for a big scoop), all the local football juniors should feed the jets crowd. surely there are more football juniors then league juniors, even in newcastle?
The Knights should always draw half decent crowds though, there are just too many hard core die-hards, but they may be 2nd best in the near future

I hope it's true that the A-league is having this sort of impact on league crowds.
I imagine the Newcastle public is similarly pro-league like the majority of the Coast public, but they have a team in each. If this pattern of decline continues there (if it is a pattern), it may help silence those who are still speaking of the possibility of a League franchise on the coast.

What were league crowds like this weekend? Record the week before wasnt it, even with a drop at Newcastle. The advertising blitz no doubt helps

35k for bunnies v dogs but it was at telstra stadium and easter show tickets gave free entry to the game, plus i heard of lots of freebies being handed out The Rooster v Broncos game crowd looked about 5k - of course rain was a factor but give it a few weeks when the hype dies down and we will have a fairer indication...
Gold Coast is still a novelty, channel 9 of course is gonna talk up their crowds but is it sustainable in 12+ months time - time will tell

how will they go now that joey has retired? I think they'll go alright. In the recent weeks that Joey has been absent, both Mullen and Gidley have shown that they are capable of replacing him. The Knights won't be the same without him for a long time, however I think the knights are in a much better position to play without him this season than 3 years ago. He was one of the greatest league players ever and will be sorely missed by Newcastle.

This thread is a complete waste of space. So why am I reading it? Who gives a flying f@#k about the Knights? I live up here and couldn't care less. Football rules. Thuggery League sucks.
