Meh, I take football in any form. As long as football and league aren't played at the same time I don't have to choose . I grew up on union, play Aussie Rules and follow football religiously. It all works for me.

Well obviously no one gives a toss so I won't comment on the game. But on the atmosphere... 19,111 at the game which was surprising. I'd like to know how many of those Tiger fans made the trip up from Sydney and how many we have on the coast! Atmosphere was nothing spectacular. NRL crowds rarely are as you mentioned. Chants of 'Tigers, Tigers' led by an extremely annoying bloke with a mic was about as far as the atmosphere goes, but it was enough to give the side a lift IMO. Most annoying thing, and I hope the A-league never follows suit, was that each player was 'sponsored' by a different company. Everytime a player scored a try or something like that, the bloody company was rammed down our throats. Worse still, they stuck ads on the video screen and loudspeaker IN THE MIDDLE of the game! At one stage one of the players took a bad knock and was getting attention. I look to the screen for a replay but instead I get a bloody ad about 'the biggest construction machinery manufacturer in China. I thought it was criminal. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be shot. It was rarely pretty... but what a win

So you haven't noticed that at enema Australia stadium? the Jest do it with a different company coming up as the players are introduced pre-game. While it doesn't happen during the game it is there in some form.

I haven't made an enema Australia stadium derby as yet I can handle the players being sponsored. I think the worst was the random ads in between plays like the one I mentioned above. Honestly... how many people at that game would be remotely interested in a Chinese construction machinery manufacturer? The ads were really loud and overpowered the atmosphere. I'll go look up that discussion

19000 is a joke considering how many grey seats were seen - that is a massive crowd beat up
I was told that in the 19000 they counted the season ticket holders - even those who didn't turn up ;D laugh material
I was also told that in the game when Newcastle played Souths around 10000 tickets were sold to postcodes outside the Central Coast area. That means that very few Central Coast people actually go to these games.
Good for tourism though. I had dinner at Gosford RSL Sat night and there were stacks of people in Tigers gear.

I will never attend an NRL match again - there's no atmosphere and I hope we never get a team on the Coast (sorry to those who do but I personally think it would harm the Mariners)

If there ever was another nrl team here, they will leave within 5 years, like another nrl club did previously.

Im not to sure about the lack of atmosphere I went to the game last week and it was quite loud and entertaining apart from the f*** wit ground announcer who heaven forbid we employ next season. We obviously have a bias towards our side but any tennant at the ground is good for us as in the long run the extra revenue will be used for improvements or maintenance. As for the 19,000 thats waaay off the markcloser to 15-16,ooo IMO and yes it is pretty easy to guess the crowd after a while.

If there ever was another nrl team here, they will leave within 5 years, like another nrl club did previously. We've never had an NRL team here. Oh, you mean Northern Eagles? HA!!!! That was a relocated manly side, as if anybody would support them! Atmosphere at HAL shits all over League. And you don't have quite as many drunk 16 year olds trying to punch on either Personally I think an NRL team here would help the Mariners, simply because the coast is not used to having a team of any description to support. Having another national team would increase the culture of being a fan in general, as well as the concept of going to a match at Gosford for a good night out. But that's moot, beacuse it isn't going to happen.
