A train also got stuck on the harbor bridge today at 2:30, and was still there at 7. Pathetic. Cityrail needs to observe the Japanese rail system. Rarely is every train 5 seconds late.

To be fair, the network needs some pretty intense upgrade. The network was not designed or pre-planned to be the size that it is and unlike Japan we just don't have the huge amount of cash necessary to act as swiftly to upgrade as they no doubt would. Not much you can do about a severed power line when there is no evasive route available. To build the alternate route they not only need to contend with the financial cost but all the planning necessary to construct with minimal whinging from Sydneys elite whingers.
