By Steve Gee December 05, 2007 10:25am A 35-year-old French tourist died after she was struck by lightning at a beachside carpark last night. It is believed the woman was with two family members and a friend when she was struck as they walked through the Terrigal Lagoon carpark, near Terrigal beach, on the NSW central coast. An ambulance spokeswoman said the woman was dead when paramedics arrived at the scene about 8.30pm. Paramedics treated two relatives and bystander for shock before the trio was taken to Gosford Hospital. More to come Source: www.news.com.au

f***! That's what happened!
We were about to leave the Indian restaurant when there was one of those huge lighning strikes with a simultaneous HUGE thunder clap.
When we got home (that carpark is at the end of my street) there were flashing lights at the lagoon and the carpark the other side of the lagoon. I thought someone must have drowned or got swept away after they had let the lagoon out.

I doubt the poor woman knew what hit her or had time to realise what was happening. Sad to hear though. May she RIP.

Standing in bare foot in water in a storm, while it is very upsetting she passed away that it a definite Darwn Award candidate.
