I'm in for the rugby league match. I dont want to go but i really really like the idea of the Marinators crashing the party. This match will have a huge crowd of the league-heads we want to convert if we want the big crowds here. And if we upstage the match to an extent by making more noise than any other area in the ground I think it's the best bloody way to achieve all our preseason goals -Keep the Mariners fresh in the minds of coasties -Get some more publicity -Show the coast/country that we are serious about our football team and that it has the support to succeed -Stick it to rugby league players/media Imagine if we had 40-50 of us in bay 16 all in yellow (highly contrasting to the Roosters and Raiders colours) singing all our pro-Mariners songs and stuff like "Go home Rugby League, This is our place now" It'd be great. I can see it now, in the match reports of the big sydney papers - "And a band of soccer club the central coast Mariners fans dressed in yellow commandeered the area behind the posts, adding some colour and excitement to the day" It'd be fantastic. Just an early warning though, the league teams fans usually try to sit in our bay so we would have to get in very early to ensure our spots. Their diehard fans often watch the lower grades play so for a 7:30 main game KO I'd want to be in there around 5:30 at the latest

If there are numbers, I would put my support behind it (not that I follow either team!) but purely for the reasons that WT pointed out. However, I aint gonna sit there in my yellow with only 10 other marinators...that would defeat the purpose. So who's in?....lets have a show of numbers. Me and my 2 boys is 3 to start.

By going to the game you are also putting dollars into rugby league. Therefore you are agreeing with the follwoing: - The Central Coast is not worthy to have a national rugby league team - You are supporting the massive anti-football campaign being undertaken by rugby league media - You are supporting the fact that as football people we have been abused, racially vilified and subject to ridicule by reagy league administrators, players and supporters There is no way rugby league will get one single dollar from me.

Mick, I think you 'draw a long bow' saying that by going to the RL we are saying the coast is not worthy of a team, and I wouln't have looked at me paying money to get into the stadium is supporting the RL machine, but rather giving myself the opportunity to 'convert' some of the RL fans to what we are about....But then that got me thinking of your statement about the possibility of getting the RL fans offside with our presence... How would the senario go?....We all turn up in yellow and start chanting our songs, which no doubt would start to include "egg shape ball egg shape ball egg shape ball...." To which they may reply something equally derogitory and it would be 'on'! That may really sound appealling to some, but it also may get some potential fans offside and have the families saying..."see...nothing but a rabble...trouble causers'' ...? It's a curly one for sure!

Sunday June 12 Central Coast Rhinos v Canberra Knights Starts at 5pm Erina Ice World. Tickets are $12.60 I phoned Erina Ice World and they said there are 500 seats (first come first served) and that they generally sell out. Tickets can be pre-purchased. Thoughts? Got my tickets for June 12th. The guy said that he knew about the Marinators and that about50 of em were coming (can we do better than that guys/gals?..) So the Rhinos here we come!!!

Can anyone give me directions for Erina Ice World? All I know of Erina is the road from Gosford to the Entrance. Also do they have an organ? (Don't be rude).

The door definitely swings both ways on this one. I think with the right approach we can make it a successful day. That would involve controlling our chants, any anti league stuff is only likely to put people against us. If we conduct ourselves well, keep our songs to mostly pro-mariners stuff, clap the tries and respect the league fans/player, then the conversion candidates may look at us and go "well they were really good, they didn't cause any problems and they made it a good atmosphere, maybe we'll go check out their sport like they have for us." As for giving them $, I have to point towards the greater good. If 30 of us went thats $300 to league and a few more bums on seats for their crowd stats, big deal, but even the impact that many people could have would be worth it I believe. If you hate league that much then fair enough, but I think there is room for both codes here, and anything league has done to put us down is no more than a business move. It wont be long before we are rolling in Asia's moula and we'll be putting league down.

It's up at Erina Fair - you can go up Karalta Road, off the Entrance Road or turn off from Terrigal Drive where the McDonalds is. Probably best to take Terrigal drive, I think the ice rink is on that side. I think it's all sign posted... As for the organ, dunno, haven't been there

Guys, Guys, Guys your missing the big picture: National T.V. coverage. Of the "MARINATORS" Head lines read: Group of soccer fans rocked gosford stadium chanting songs supporting their national football(Soccer) team. Channel 9's coverage of the game on saturday afternoon, sports tonight, the footy show. Fatty and sterlo would go off, how about those soccer fans with their chants. And the money goes to the stadium, your putting money into gosford. They wont get the numbers there that we had. It would be interesting to compare the numbers. Anyways who gives a shite about roosters and raiders. Der. I think you will all miss a golden opportunity for national tv exposure, and yeah get out there and show the NRL that gosford does love and support a national football team. be it our brand. This entire game will be played on tv plus highlights throughout the week. The mariners final barely got a mention on the sydney channels. Let alone the marinators. I think we should all go., if i didnt have to work i would be there.

And if we want to be realistic, we're not likely to make headlines. The most we could hope for from Sydney media/TV would be a passing mention. The point isn't to draw that kind of attention though, it's to put ourselves in the face of the people in the stadium. They are the ones we need recognition from for the moment. I'm going to wait until the end of the week and see who else is up for it before I decide, I don't want to go in there and be the only one. Its been good to see people's opinions either way. Do we get our hockey tickets at Erina? Do we have to make any special note that we are marinators?

The guy said he knew about the 'Marinators' and that they were coming ( onya Mick!) and I think they are tying to get us all together....in the middle somewhere. Best to mention the Marinators that way they can allocate us all together.

OK here's the latest word on our June 12 trip to Erina Ice World. WHEN WE ARE GOING There have apparently been tickets sold to two groups of Mariners fans, some for June 12, and some for this sunday May 29th. As stated at the start of this thread we have always planned to go on Sunday 12th of June. "Face off" or whatever they do at the start is at 5pm. The June 12th game is against Sydney, not against Canberra as originally thought. I think we'll all be happy about this. WHICH TICKETS TO BUY All 800 or so seats are in the one grandstand and are reserved seating, but if nobody is sitting in them they are up for grabs for general admission ticket holders. In addition to the seats, there is standing space across the back of the grandstand. Its just a few metres wide running between the wall of the building and a railing between the seats. This space, as well as standing space all around the rink, is available for general admission ticket holders. Therefore I think everyone who hasnt got their tickets yet should get general admission. That way we are flexible and can all just pack in wherever there is some space and along with the standing space at the top of the grandstand we can make a lot of noise reverberate around what is essentially a hangar. There was a game there yesterday between aussie U20's and a top Canadian club side that filled all 800 seats plus had 300 people standing around the rink. Here's some photos of last years grand final where you can get an idea of stadium layout www.erinaiceworld.com.au/AIHL%20Final%20gallery/FrameSet.htmHOW TO GET THERE For any non coasties coming or people not sure where to park- Go into Erina Fair from Karalta road, and either - Turn left at the first little round about and follow it down. There is some limited parking here near a loading bay, with stairs at the far side that put you straight at the front door of Erina Ice World or - Go into the yellow carpark or the red carpark. They are clearly marked and are the closest to the ice rink. Buses also travel from gosford to erina fair all the time, every 10 minutes or something. A BIT ABOUT THE RHINOS Not travelling too well. In their most recent games they have drawn away to last years runners up Newcastle (2-2) and beaten last years champs West Sydney (5-4), apparently this form has been helped by recent imports. Besides those results, they have lost 5 times all in heavy defeats, including a 5-0 drubbing away to Sydney. Lets help lift these boys and make the home ground advantage count! And if they go behind we can just sing about Mariners instead Star players for chants seem to be 19 year old defenseman Lee Clarke and goalie David Wong, but I'll make sure I have a little list with their numbers on them at the game so I know who scores the goals etc and so we have a few names to sing. WHAT TO WEAR It seems that both the Rhinos and the Sydney Bears play in red...I dont know who will wear an alternate strip and what colour it will be but I'd say just wear our yellow! Any other questions just land em here folks

If it looks like we are going to have a decent group there, say 40 or 50+ should we contact the local papers and tell them to come check us out?

Great post WT! I got numbered seats, but thats ok, my group of 4 will just go where all the rest of the marinators go. I don't care WHAT colour the teams are wearing...we should all be in our 'marinators yellow' ! and should we contact the press?...ABSOLUTELY! Thats what its all about, trying to carry on some of the momentum we created at the wcc.
Headline reads... "MARINATORS STRIKE AGAIN !.....This time the CC Mariners supporters 'The Marinators' were out in full force at Erina Ice world throwning their support behind the local Ice Hockey team 'The Rhinos'....
I think the Rhinos would be glad of the 'publicity' opportunity also (should that be or has that been mentioned to them already Mick?)
