I wasn't disagreing with the idea of the idea of calling it the Marinators Charity Shield, just if it was always Syd they may not like it. Just make sure that it is spelt right on the trophy. For another matter. When we win, where do we keep the trophy? Speaking of trophies, I delved back into my memory banks and pulled out a reminder of a similar supporters challenge competition from the old NSL. In those days Newcastle KB United (not the crap current outfit) and Canberra City played each other for the Supporters Cup. The cup was a hospital piss urn mounted on a shield, and was a prized trophy. Short games were played on the NSL stadia like Newcastle's ISC, Canberra's Bruce Stadium between the Youth fixture and the main game. We also played against Marconi, Brisbane Lions, Blacktown City, etc. My cherished memory (apart from scoring the only goal against a media XI in front of Terry Venables at Breakers Stadium ;D) was a scoring the winning goal against Marconi at Bossley Park. They fielded a semi-professional youth outfit, thinking that we'd be a walkover. We were massacred for much of the match, but held out for a penalty, which we missed but I was able to stretch a weary leg and poke in the rebound. The fealing was unbelievable! My biggest nightmare was filling in for Canberra City (they were short of players) in Newcastle and scoring against our own team for a 1-1 draw in front of a big crowd. The Rowdies never let me forget that traitorous act! So how creative are we going to be with our trophy! ;D Not only that, but we should be going for no less than the game to be played at CC Stadium. Call it a test of the commitment from 'Singo' and the Club. It doesn't have to be an A-League match day, but there is something special about running on to the same surface where your heroes play.

That will depend on how much the club helps us. Mick did you get in touch with Ben? Ben flew out this morning for a holiday. I have to liaise with Lyall but he wants a meeting with us. Ben has indicated the stadium is not keen at all because of all the logistics and public liability issues. I left a message on Lyall's phone to contact me. Ben said that he has left the ice hockey details with Sarah Buggy (Operations) and not sure what is happening with it.

We are more organised than they are over there. That will depend on how much the club helps us. Mick did you get in touch with Ben? Ben flew out this morning for a holiday. I left a message on Lyall's phone to contact me. If we cant get the stadium what's the preferred alternative. Anything to consider besides -Gosford Primary School Oval (call it 'next to the stadium oval') -Mingara -Pluim Park, if not field 1 then at least the closest one. -A club such as Ourimbah (easiest to get to) hosting us

A couple of others I just thought of - Gosford High School oval. A short walk from Gossie station, decent pitch, huge oval to stage other things there besides the match (eg bbq, meet the players, more fundraising, space for the kiddies to play). Easy to get back to the leaguesy afterwards. And I dont know if anyone has suggested it but there's the oval near gosford skate park further along showground road i dont know what its called. or what about adcock park? They would all require some level of assistance from the owners, be it council or school etc so i dont see a particularly easy or logical choice.

Unless we get a local sponsor that wants to donate the the trophy, the guy that did the syd fc's supporters new website wants to provide the trophy. As long as he doesn't want naming rights....I say we take him up on his offer and just tell everyone that the 'Marinator Charity Shield' is kindly donated by 'The Unofficial Syd FC . com' website... Kinda fits in with what we are trying to achieve here...'harmony between the supporters clubs'! thoughts?

My one concern with most of those places are football nets, we'd be using Rugby League posts for most of them.
My preffered alternative would be Leagues Club Park or Pluim if we can't get Grahame Park.

OK by me the more contribution the Sydney boys have the more committment they will give to the match

Good stuff then. Imagined something like that would happen but just need to be sure. Still better to get a place that already has nets.

Ben has indicated the stadium is not keen at all because of all the logistics and public liability issues. I've heard those tired old excuses before. Where there's a will there's a way. It's only a patch of turf surrounded by a few bits of concrete, for goodness sake. It's not as if we're asking them to open up the stadium. So where are the logistics? Key in lock - done. We would take care of everything else. And if someone trips up over a blade of grass, so what? That's what player insurance is for. As for the spectators, they can always stand amongst the palm trees.

So how creative are we going to be with our trophy! ;D . Suggestion for the Trophy. In keeping with the marinators momentum and our chants, i feel it really quite appropriate to buy a BBQ apron with the plastic set of boobs and cut them out and mount them on a sheild. Then you could have the marinators charity sheild with the "Tits out for the Boys Trophy. hehehehe
