I wrote a little piece about my experience becoming a Marinator, for possible use on the website once it gets up and running. But the boys with the back-of-the-net connections thought it was worthy, so now you can see it there if you like. It's the lifetime coastie/terrace virgin view of what the Mariners mean to the people. www.back-of-the-net.com

Top Stuff mate! I remember that we joined the board at about the same time, I also had no idea who these people were and just dived in and talked and had a look and was accepted by them even though I wasn't a rowdie (in the days when it was just rowdies and us). I always feel like I missed something by working for the FFA/Mariners that day (although that's part of what I want to do to help the club) and you make me feel that so much more, if only I could have both experiences. I'm not passing my volunteer job at the Mariners up and I will be with you guys whenever I'm not used and away games (and of course my now usual half time appearances).
oh and: GO YOU WHITES!

Yeah I remember being stoked that someone on here was in the same boat as me at the start.
Glad I could give you an insight into what it was like to be amongst it.

Wow, talk about capturing the essence of a passionate vocal supporter. Excellent article, well written. Had me hooked on every word. Shades of Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby!
Well done to BOTN for publishing it.
I hope it inspires more of us to type up their football experiences. We should indeed have an area on the Marinators site for like articles.

Awesome. I have to say, Sydney's site is looking really good. Looks to have some nice features with good writers too. Hope ours shows theirs up MrC!

I have to admit I've not seen or done much with our site, as Adz is taking the lead design-wise, but he is recovering from a bad flu. What's the URL for their site again?

It's making me ponder writing up my volunteer experience, but that may actually breach the contract I signed with the FFA.

why wouldn't ANYONE love it....seriously! take the name away and it could be any one of us. As WT states in the piece, there was possibly some dude somewhere on Mersyside when Liverpool started etc... Its a universal piece and something he should be very proud of!

Yeah I wasn't going to waste precious beer money/time on a stadium pie later or anything so I forced down a footlong in gosford before I went to the leaguesy. Nearly puked the thing up since I wasnt hungry at all but I never got hungry later so it was a success!
