Technicality Mr Councellor!
Lake Macquarie is also a city, but it's 7/10ths water!
As Croc Dundee would say of Sydney: " Now THAT'S a city!"

This 'debate' with nedstaa reminds me of a meeting I had with the Marketing Manager of Optus a few years ago. We were discussing sports sponsorship, and he said that it is getting so sohisticated that the 'top end of town' corporations are only interested in sponsoring competitions as a whole, or maybe the main capital city teams. They have zero interest in provincial clubs, due to limited exposure. That suggests Bling Bling FC have much better opportunities than the likes of the Mariners. I also agree with the person that said Sydney vocal support is focussed on factional groups, usually by nationality, and that might need to change to have a cohesive support like a smaller community that has no factional baggage. I reckon Sydney vocal supporters would be more likely to 'fight' with each other than with supporters from other Clubs! On the other hand we've seen what happened in Newcastle. They had a very effective support that has all but vanished. The difference? Newcastle lost a lot of people who are prepared to do a lot of work behind the scenes and on match day. Mariners have those in the likes of MM and Kevernor, etc.
