Hi all, just to let you know where we are in regard to the banners we have been chasing. The Stadium have got back to me saying that they don't have a problem with banners going up for bay 16 supporters section (yaaaay!) However, apparently they need to contact the FFA when any logos are used (skull n bones, marinatorman, crows nest etc) to get their approval.
There shouldn't be any problems and I guess they are just protecting their own butts. They are still waiting to hear from the FFA (its been 2 weeks now!)
The banner to go on the scaffold (skull n bones / Marinators. 2.4m x 2m) will cost us approx $385
The banner to go on the fence at the front of bay16 ('www.marinators.net' 9m x 0.9m) will cost us approx $515
All on quality UV resist vinyl with vinyl lettering, eyelets and ropes etc made by 'SignPac' (who do a lot of the stadiums signage and were one of the best priced out of 10 quotes obtained. The only cheaper quote was actually $1 less! With Gosford signs being the most expensive $1600! Signpac BY FAR the most proffesional / helpful people to deal with)
So you can see that we are going to need $900 for the both of them. I have no doubts we will raise that at the Marinators Charity Shield Match through raffles etc (provided we all tell our friends/collegues/neighbours/aquaintances etc to get there!) but wouldn't it be great to have at least 1 of them actually at the charity match~!!
If you haven't donated yet.....have a think about it!

I doubt that we are going to raise that at charity shield since we agreed to put all raised funds to the charity of choice???

Weren't we going to charge players to play in the match and give that to the charity, but the sausage sizzle, raffles etc were to raise for the banners / website etc? Thats the way I saw it.

Are we all ok with charging players a fee to play which goes to charity, BBQ funds to charity and the raffles etc to go to marinators fighting fund?

OK I'm happy with that. As long as whichever is for us and not charity is clearly represented that way. Maybe raffle to us so we can have people going around selling raffle tickets for the Marinators, and others with general collection buckets for charity donations.
Is there anyone willing to make up some donation buckets (preferably coin slot top?) with something on it saying "marinators charity shield- youth suicide appeal" or something like that?

We need to make it absolutely clear that the money we take for the marinators is not for the charity.
Do we want someone to contact the charity before hand?

Agree with the split. Omni is right with notifying the charity and i think it would do the publicity side of things the world of good

I've just put $25 in the account. The way I see it, that's only 5 beers at the stadium!

Mick, we measured the required areas around bay 16, no surprises there. The actual bay area (NOT counting the couple of meters that the scaffold comes out from the wall) is 11m x 17m.

you could take of 1 meter from length and width and still cover the bay, but its still one huge mother f***er of a flag man!

Are the flags to be stored at the ground and if so do we need o group to put them up at home games?

Not stored at the ground (yet) I just wanna take it easy at first, lets establish a nice relationship with them first. That would be the ideal though, store them at the ground somewhere.
