While most people tend to focus on variety of songs/chants, I think the most effective one is the chant that just keeps going.. I remember back in nineteen hundred and ninety four, at the cricket and the "Barmy Army" was just starting to take off. Play had just started from a tea break and the chant "Atherton's BARMY ARMY" went up. The whole bay was up and getting into it, after 20 minutes it was still going! By this time there was a massive buzz around the ground, really made for a fantastic atmosphere - the whole bay was also surrounded by security and police I reckon this is the easiest way to get the whole crowd going, probably best suited to "Mariners, Mariners, Marinerrrrrrrrs...." - it only takes a few people to keep going and the rest should follow. Anyway, I'll just sit back and wait to be called a dickhead.. ;D

I think we would show opposition fans and central coasties alike that we really mean business with something like this. try go from half time whistle to the second half? spread the word?

Could work. As long as its not a drone like the infamous " chelsea chelsea chelsea chelsea ...zzzzz....chelsea chelsea chelseaaaaaa chelsea chelsea chelsea chelsea chelsea zzz " Could numb the opposition into submission i suppose.

A never-ending chant needs to allow a definite breath pause without breaking rythm. That is why "Lawrie McKinnas Golden Army" would about be about right. Alas when a few of us tried something like that last night others launched into another chant, which destroyed the chance for it to build slowly.

a lead and call back chant that works well with thugby league fans- each line is to be called back to the leader, and the chant repeats, getting steadily louder:
wherever we go people want to know who we are and where we come from we are the army the marinator army and if you can't hear us we'll sing a little louder...
[repeat and get louder each time until everyone's popping veins in their foreheads at which time you can launch into another chant. requires that the marinators are happy to follow a leader]

Guys you need organisation, ONE group, ONE leader, as a tiny preview of the Baywatch preview - organisation is the key!

Guys you need organisation, ONE group, ONE leader, as a tiny preview of the Baywatch preview - organisation is the key! When alcohol gets involved organisation goes out the window! I think we all know that there's a handful of people who usually gets the chants going anyway, then everyone else follows. A lot of people love singing but don't wanna start it in case of dickhead dickhead, but the likes of me and froggy don't give a shit!

DJ - My main concern was you seemed to have two factions doing two different chants at the same time.
It's time to kick people out of the bay if they don't get involved, as for the dickheads with fake shirts give them a dickhead and tell them to get involved or f*** off and tell them their shirts are a disgrace! Anyone with a Bay 16 shirt should be in Bay 16 and getting involved if not they aren't Marinators and should be questioned as to why they think they are one! Even I run up to you guys at half time and get involved and I work for the team during the games so these guys have no excuse!

there are some people who sit at the front but leave them be
they add to the numbers as are the people who don't sing
they will get involved with time
we should be all embracing not telling people to piss off but they scream as much as we do
as for people who make their own shirts and designs - good luck to them, they don't have to buy a marinators shirt to get involved
what's with all this snobbery omni?

Woke up on the wrong side of the bed did we Omni?
Some people love the atmosphere of Bay 16 but don't want to sing that's fine, as Mick said numbers are also needed in the Bay!
On saturday I was off my nut mate only because I was drinking since 12 ish very solidly too I might add with Froggy! So a lot of what was coming out my mouth was just crap, and if theres no song for a bit then 2 different people start a new chant at the same time what can you do?

I wrecked my f***ing throat trying to start chants on saturday, by now most of you will know my voice lasts about 2 celery's and im gone, having not just froggy but more numbers in general will be a big help. i have an issue with the people sitting down silently in front of us as well, naturally i'd rather them stand up and sing (we know elton john can.) But it's not an issue until the time when they are taking up the space that louder prouder marinators could be standing in, because THEN it will be taking away from it and they should move to the next bay over. if the bay is not full they arent causing any problem though.

when we get more numbers those standing up will naturally make those sitting down move or stand
