We'll sort ourselves out on the night.
All welcome in Bay 16, but they must expect mayhem.
The Mariners and the Marinators are working-class, we have no space for snobbery. I love our group because no-one judges me, I'm no better or worse than anyone else and we are all making solid friends. Omni, perhaps your remarks are a little harsh, my good man.

Good call auburn - I would never want to kick someone out of Bay 16 or call them dickheads just because they are either not wearing yellow or singing. I got 2 people to come and sit in Bay 16 for the first time (infact it was their first match), there was no singing from them but at the end of the game they said to me what time is kick off next week? I got 2 different people coming to bling for the first time too so if we can all get more bums on seats initially it's a step in the right direction! As we get more interest on the coast we will get bigger and noiser crowds!

Getting vocal at a great football match is the most fun a group of drunken adults can legally get up to in public. I think more people will surely want to get involved. Am I wrong though? Are people really that self concious about singing? I got dickheaded on Sat. and it was a laugh. I'm definitely not emotionally scarred from the experience. We all obviously find it so enjoyable I find it hard to believe that others wouldn't. Are we not embracing enough? Are other people too afraid to approach our group as if we were the Hell's Angels? If so how do we change our image and/or get the young surrounding lads and lasses more involved without them feeling self conciuos? Do they realise Dickhead is practically a term of endearment? I think over time any poor misconceptions of us will dissapate and with our growing numbers it will be obvious that we welcome and indeed implore the intiation of new members. Well, I hope so. Otherwise our ship will sink to the bottom of the ocean due to an attack from the, what will be, mighty numbers of the Blingers. If I wasn't part of the marinators at the ground level I might of been scared to approach the group. Who do I talk to about becoming a member? Are they all mates and entrance is limited? What does celery have to do with football ( I still ponder about that one. ? Were we selling shirts at the stadium on Sat. or only at the Kendall? Because I think we need to definitely sell them in the bay. That way people will see that we are trying to recruit people. That's probably why Enrique had a makeshift top for he was just a little ignorant of how we operate. Hopefully people will go to the website where they can pick up all the info they need to be a genuine marinator. We probably should of had the website printed on the shirts. I can't believe I hadn't thought of that. It shouldn't matter too much for we have a 10m sign. But its easier for shy individuals to research on the web than actually approach us. I've written far too much. It's just that come the weekend I'll be too drunk to be able to make any reasonable conversation.

I got dickhead a few times and laughed at myself whilst it happened - love it! it's all good fun. What I was saying is that omni said we should start singing dickhead to people just because they are not singing, or because they don't have a marinator shirt on - that's bullshit and it's not gonna get people back in the ground to support the Mariners if we start calling everyone dickheads! Bums on seats is more important right now, it's proven that with the numbers we already have noise is heard by the players Some people love singing, but don't wanna start a chant, and that's fine too - but when one gets going they will join in every time!

Good call Golden Boy. Personally there are times when I would rather concentrate on the game than sing continuously. However when I consider vocal support important you will hear me if I were alone across the bay. I agree with Omni that we need a bit more organisation and a definite leader. (Can we offer "Voice" a contract to switch allegiances? )(just joking). Having said that, like all important decisions, I do not think it can be forced and will happen naturally. What I would like to see happen fairly quickly are specific songs for, the start, a goal, and one for when the team needs a lift that can get the whole stadium going. This last one can be the most effective and important bit of singing fans can undertake. There were nights at NSO when a simple "Come on Spirit" started by the Macs spread to other stands and really lifted the team. Ideas anyone?

While it can be a bit wasted if we have competing groups singing different chants at the same time, what a luxury we have!
Arguing over this during the pre-season is amazing! Other Clubs would sell their soul for such support!
WHen we get our rythm going, we'll be fine. There is a bit of skill to know when the chant you're involved should be paused as another takes off. I saw plenty of examples on Sat night where the first group gave up on their chant out of respect for a bigger one coming through.
A bit like watching the surf, with chants coming through in waves. You just gotta avoid the 'dumpers' else you get called a dickhead. ;D
As for the 'dickhead' chant - we're all dickheads. Anyone who gets their knickers in a twist at being called that has no place in Bay 16.

Guys you need organisation, ONE group, ONE leader, as a tiny preview of the Baywatch preview - organisation is the key! agreed froggy will be the man when he comes back Don't agree with one leader at all. One natural leader is likely to emerge (Froggy is front runner), but to put all eggs in one basket is a mistake I think. Everyone should be encouraged to have a stab at starting chants. I'm sure Froggy would be happy to pass the baton around during the game (for the sake of his vocal chords).

Agreed - having a group of lads who wanna get chants started in brilliant, and we've all said it before it's only gonna get better!

Voice was not the be all and end all on the Mac Terrace, he was one of many who started different chants off - although not many get close to him with a "Shake it up baby" - which by the way is nicked from the South Bank, Upton Park! ;D

Thats right Sacko and it was Clacky who first got it started on the Mac.
Voice was one of many who got the singing going, just as it died in the arse near the end he was holding it together somewhat.
