For the record - im still pissed as after that big win, but ill have a crack at posting anyway.
Tonight's effort from the Marinators, while there was quality per person, lacked qunatity in a big way. Bling may well bring up to 100 fans with them next weekend, and we need to outsing them and show them that nobody outsings the marinators in our own ground.
so this call is going out to everyone on this forum from me and the other bay16ers i talked to tonight:
get yourself, your friends, your family, your workmates, and everyone you meet on the street in the next week down to the stadium on saturday ready to go f***ing mental for the mariners. if i see more than half of bay 16 sitting in their silently in their seats like tonight im going to deadset bang some heads together.
get up, get rowdy, get loud, get proud, and do whatever it taks to give our boys a lift over the bling heads when they show up here next saturday.
im sure the boys i talked to earlier tonight will agree with me. (whoever it was that said posting drunk was a bad idea, you are completely correct)
cheers WT

Pretty piss poor turnout. Definately need to bolster the ranks before we take on bling next week. Good effort from those who did turn up and give it their all!

I appreciate the sentiment Trent, but don't lose sight of how many were there, how many wore yellow, and how many made noise! We have come a long way very fast and we will have some ups and downs - this was still an up! We've had two months break, and this is a preseason game, so the numbers are still encouraging - and the overall crowd was about what I predicted to a few people before the game - we drew at least 4 times what Newcastle did the night before! I agree though, next week we must get out everyone we can!

That's why we have trial games, so everyone can get their act together. I assume Mariners and A league have a huge promotional blitz planned before the season proper. That will help the cause too.

I have some people coming next weekend who have never been, finally managed to convince them after many weeks of calling them pussys coz they were too hung up on trouble that could happen, and as we all know the Marinators are not about that!
Plus we will have Froggy back, so the fun loving alcoholic will be destroying his vocal cords! We also have the Dwight Yorke factor, how many bums can the so called best player in the league fill?
So we will be stronger in numbers and voice, and if any Mariner fan reads these posts and is not a member, just get down to the stadium and support the boys in yellow! We wanna make sure that we are the first team to beat the bling bling!

Launch on Thursday 4 August. Major TV advertising from then. Official FFA merchandise available from then. Reebok Shirts in sports stores. BTW I thought the Mariners merchandise last night was good - I like the scarves (even with not enough gold) and the prices were reasonable. 10,000 of those sparkling thingos at the new years eve match would look good!

Yep the scarves and 'sparklies' were great. Well done to the Mariners for getting stuff out and ready to go so soon, as from what John McKay told me it was a real struggle.
Back to the topic, I know it all looks good for the future, another point being that if people were only going to want to come to one PSC game it would probably be Sydney rather than last night. What got me though were the people in bay 16 sitting down in front of us. We got most of them up once with 'stand up for the mariners' then they sat straight back down, then after we sang it 5 more times they continually just ignored us. Elton wouldnt even turn around again.

!st team to beat bling bling. Mrdja out gunning (and out gumming) Dwight Dork I feel Sydney could bring up more than a 100+++ We have gotta scream our lungs out next week boys. A non-stop "stand up for the Mariners" until complianced is reached may be the go.
I am so up for it already. Anyone else???
LETS GO F***ING MEEEEEEEENNNNNNNTAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a trial match after all, a training run in many people's eyes, and we got a darn sight better than the roll out at the other games. I've followed football for many a year and I've never seen a half empty stadium generate a Mexican wave in a full comp match, let alone the pre-season! The fact that the stands, not just the Marinators got in on the Ooooooohhhhh, Dooosh, Dooosh! chant was impressive too. Wait for the big expected A-League promotional blitz in August. If done correctly, it will generate a whole new round of interest.

That wave was the funniest thing I have seen at a sporting event for ages. 20% of staduim with people in it and it still worked.

And the fastest bloody mexican wave I've ever seen, except maybe for the one a few of us football fans got going at the Norvege vs Svenska euro handball game at the Sydney Olympics! I think we've got the makings of a very good football crowd - not all like the Marinators but all involved ands supporting - if we can just keep Security under control. ;D Adz, did they give the S&CB flag back? If not we need to follow up stadium management.

What happened is NOT right at all and I have asked them to investigate the matter.

Adz, did they give the S&CB flag back? Adz told me he was given the choice (small blessings) of having it confiscated and retrieved at the end of the match, or returning it to his car. He chose the latter, so the flag is safe. ;D

I was sitting in Bay 6 last night - will be there from now on for various reasons - and the guys in Bay 16 sounded great!
When the season gets going, CCM will have the best fans in the league.

Yeh I'm sure next game will have a bigger turnout.
Those 'Sparklies' were mad... too bad they are the most confusing thing to try and operate after a few beers.

Well, I was in bay 16 for the first time (previously in the stands which didn't have the atmosphere), and it was a hoot. My voice is shot, I had a hangover this morning and I'm still smiling. Noticed a fair number of folks not getting into the marinators thing but sitting in Bay 16? WTF, if you don't like the way Bay 16 runs, p**s off to another Bay and let those that wanna stand up & roar their lungs out in! Elton and his buddies should have got the message early on and either got involved or moved. Bling bling have to be shown that the Central Coast means business and send them back to "south of Mt. White" with their ears ringing of our songs and chants.
