I regularly troll the Newcastle Jets forum, as it usually gives me a chuckle.
Got another belly laugh the other night.
Newcastle United/Jets/Whatever are renowned in this town for putting positive spins on their debacles, attempting to con the locals, eg. Got 200 people at an NSL match once, and you'd have thought they had 200,000 at the game the way they dodged about. The 'El Tel' and Alan Shearer promises that fizzled, etc.
Well, now their Marinators equivalent are in on the spin technique. They recently held a big meeting for all vocal supporters. The reporting of the meeting on the forum said things like, "WONDERFUL NEWS!!!", "resounding success", "The Squadron, are prepared to TAKE OFF in a BIG WAY", "positively BUZZING!!!". Reading closely though, the attendance was........the organiser and one other supporter!
Sad, sad, sad. Have to give them credit for trying though. I predict a massacre when their supporters (all two of them) face off against the mighty Marinators!
