You can't save the cheerios for the end of the game. You have to sing them when you can. You have to tempt fate. You have to be confident, cocky, and arrogant. Then the Sydney fans will shut up and start chewing nails, praying and leaving early. They won't be singing and then our boys will boost and their players will drop.

I agree that simply songs are the way to go (this coming from the guy who's made about 4 posts)....the main thing is NOISE, but brilliant songs.
We've got all winter to come up with brilliant songs for next year.
Everywhere we go I think will work because it's repetitive and gives people plenty of time to get into it. And yeah, it is a bit primary school, but it's a nice loud song, especially in the last verse. And we'll get the kids into this one too.
EIEIEIO, by the time people figure out how it goes, or realise it's being sung, it'll be over (If you've never really heard it before - and I reckon most people won't know the words - it does take a little getting used to).
You can't go wrong with the short sharp ones 'here we go, here we go' clap-clap, clap-clap-clap, clap-clap-clap-clap, Mariners! (that'll look awesome if the entire end gets into it) Just a thought on 'stand up for the mariners'....usually everybody outside Bay 16 ignores it.
But I don't think that'll be the case here....people all across the end will stand up....but I just think that could result in a lot of peeved off people behind them.
While I'm throwing thoughts out, considering the family orientation of the day, as well as how many more people are going to be in the thick of it than usual, perhaps we should eliminate the swearing?
I know, the guy with less posts than fingers probably shouldn't be dictating, but I thought I'd throw it out there....there's still a few songs we still swear in 'can you hear sydney sing' and 'everywhere we go' and 'he's here, he's there, he's every f*****g where, Andrew Clark!' are the only e I think, but it's all too easy so substitute f*****g for bloody...
And on the subject of random thoughts - have we ever lost after doing 'danny, what's the score?'
I can't remember it ever happening, but I could be wrong.
Of course the simply 'we love you xxxxxx, we do' always works.
And I think 'Andre, andre andre andre, gumprecht, gumprecht' will be AWESOME if everybody joins in!
Thing is, the cove have bigger numbers than the Marinators, and they'll probably have a bigger core - not to mention others starting chants all around the ground. So we have to be loud.
Of course, the cove are never renowned for their creativity (do they sing anything else than clapx9, Sydney! And Ole, ole ole ole!?), so we'll beat them without even trying I think!)

mate good opinions aye! dude, dont worry about being the forumer with less posts pointing the finger. this is a forum and i believe the true meaning of the forum (i used to think it was spanish for "whales vagina") is a collective contribution of ideas in a discussion to get towards an ultimate goal.

Cheers mate
Well, it's since been pointed out that in those songs a lot of people do use 'bloody' But it seems a lot of people still prefer the coarser alternative as well, from what I usually hear.

yeah i thought we didnt swear due to the growing negative attention towards the marinators (reports in papers, security warnings etc)
we have always forgot this at away games seeing its not our problem but theirs, so we swear away.
but what of this weekend? do we keep the wholesome family ethic of no foul language?
i might take the marinators bar of soap.

And yeah, it is a bit primary school, but it's a nice loud song, especially in the last verse. And we'll get the kids into this one too. At the semi 2nd leg, with the big crowd and more noise this was (believe it or not) the only really clear song fom the Marinators at the other end of the stadium. It is ESSENTIAL (early and several times more). Just a thought on 'stand up for the mariners'....usually everybody outside Bay 16 ignores it. But I don't think that'll be the case here....people all across the end will stand up....but I just think that could result in a lot of peeved off people behind them. Remember at Newcastle, in the second half the whole 3 bays of away fans stood up for this each time. Everybody should be pumped to get involved at the GF, already.

We want them to join in not switch off! It is surely worth it for a Grand Final! As Mr C said .. a once in a lifetime chance (except we'll keep winning Xena's ring! ;D)

Sydney swear more than us anyway, rememebr our last home game when we played them? i was standing behind the blue mob during the warm ups and there they are the lot of em' saluting the boys yelling 'YOU SUCK YOU SUCK YOU SUCK!' A whole bay! the overall effect looked funny, but still not suitable. I say, remember to do mexican waves, when the lumps in the stands can be half arsed to lift their arms for a second or two, it looks good, and i'll be watching on fox...
